Help McCain avert a fatal scandal

Help McCain avert a fatal scandal

By Donald Hank

Ladies and Gentlemen, you have been recently treated here at Laigle’s Forum to a well-rounded smorgasbord of information about the causes of this latest financial crash. You have been regaled with information and insights not seen at any other web site, not mentioned in the “conservative” media or, much less, in the mainstream media. And now you will learn about one of the biggest scoundrels of all time, namely, that one of the authors of the biggest financial crisis in US history, has been chosen by John McCain as his new SEC chair. No, this is not going to happen. You are going to stop this insanity and we will tell you how. Keep reading.

First let’s review the time line of our financial crisis:

1-1977, Jimmy Carter proposes and gets a bill called the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), which calls for more mortgages for minorities. It was pretty harmless at first, so Reagan didn’t bother to challenge it.

2- In 1995, Clinton put the CRA into overdrive, ordering the Treasury Department to rewrite the lending rules, thereby bypassing the Republican congress. The main criterion for getting a loan was race, and many loans required no income and no money down. In other words, bad credit risks got the lion’s share of the loans and still do. Clinton’s HUD secretary helped mightily to create this crisis. We’ll tell you about this guy shortly.

3-Bush protested these practices in his first term, when he was still a Republican, but later caved and increased the required percentage of loans to minorities and pushed for a “zero down-payment initiative.”

Bush now wants to pay for this with $700 billion of hard earned money from you, good hardworking people who do not renege on their loans. (Remember when people with good credit histories were rewarded and deadbeats were punished? We’re going to bring those times back by not agreeing to a bailout of any kind – BTW, gas prices are going down as a result of the crunch.)

ACORN, which the first version of the failed Democrat-authored bailout bill wanted to reward, was the group that agitated and lobbied hardest for the policies that brought down the lending market!  Obama worked hand in hand with ACORN and received huge donations from the associated criminal enterprises Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac.

Here’s where it really gets interesting. Please pay attention:

Andrew Cuomo, whom McCain has picked as his SEC Chairman, was Clinton’s HUD secretary when the new regulations were forcing banks to lend at ridiculous rates and under dangerous confitions, and according to the Village Voice, made “a series of decisions that… gave birth to the present crisis.”

Writes Village Voice correspondent Wayne Barrett:

Andrew Cuomo, the youngest Housing and Urban Development secretary in history, made a series of decisions between 1997 and 2001 that gave birth to the country’s current crisis. He took actions that – in combination with many other factors – helped plunge Fannie and Freddie into the subprime markets without putting in place the means to monitor their increasingly risky investments. He turned the Federal Housing Administration mortgage program into a sweetheart lender with sky-high loan ceilings and no money down, and he legalized what a federal judge has branded “kickbacks” to brokers that have fueled the sale of overpriced and unsupportable loans. Three to four million families are now facing foreclosure, and Cuomo is one of the reasons why.

Did you get that? McCain has picked one of the authors of the present crisis, one of the most heinous scoundrels in American history, to head his Securities and Exchange Commission!

According to a Newsday article, here is what McCain says about Cuomo:

Cuomo would be a good replacement because he is respected and “did a good job” as secretary of Housing and Urban Development in the Democratic Clinton administration, McCain said.”I think he is somebody who could restore some credibility, lend some bipartisanship to this effort,” the senator said on CBS’ “60 Minutes” program.

Has McCain been on another planet for the last few years? Is bringing down American banks “doing a good job”?

Neither the “conservative” press (is there one any more?) nor the liberals have made the embarrassing connection between Cuomo’s pivotal role in creating the financial crisis and the fact that McCain wants this tarnished politician as his SEC chairman. Each side has decided to give you only the news that will help their side get elected. But the trouble with that approach is, it doesn’t put you, the new Ron Reagan, in the position to avert scandals and bad decisions of the kind McCain wants to make. Laigle’s Forum does not subscribe to the philosophy that presentation of news must be tailored to propagandistic agendas. You can’t change what you don’t know about.

So now that you do know, what can you do about this scandalous, potentially fatal situation for the McCain campaign?

Well, we Americans are usually seen by government as those little bugs out there that were made to squash, but that come in handy at election time.

But, Ladies and Gentlemen, you and I know we’re a lot more than that. We are the new Ronald Reagan. Last year, in the spirit of Reagan, we stopped the Amnesty bill dead in its tracks. Yesterday, in the same patriotic spirit, we stopped the bailout. The Bush-McCain-Obama steam roller can’t squash us after all. The Wizard of Oz is not all-powerful.

So what to do next?

Write to the McCain Campaign

http://www.johnmccain.com/Contact/

and then call the campaign HQ at

1-703-418-2008

Tell them McCain had better walk away from Andrew Cuomo fast because Cuomo is at the center of a scandal in the financial crash, was a pivotal player and will mar the campaign with a scandal McCain can’t afford right now when he is already losing. Send them a link to the Village Voice article, tell them this is all over the internet, and then make sure it is (send it to your list with a link to this Laigle’s Forum article)! Tell them McCain can’t rely on a conservative VP pick to lend him credibility. He has to actually talk the talk and walk the walk himself. We’re not buying the wishy-washy weasel words any more. And tell him for gosh sake, stop sounding like illegal immigration is A-ok. It’s not.

Then get in touch with your radio talk show hosts, including Rush (don’t bother with Hannity. He won’t jump on the band wagon until the scandal is too big to contain).

John McCain likes to brag about how he made people “famous” for doing things that cost the American people money.

Well, now it is our turn.  Tell his campaign we’ll make John McCain famous if he fails to walk away from this awful choice.

Why even help  the campaign of a guy who seems not to want to be president at times?

There is one very good reason to help McCain: Obama.

Uncle Sam — the biggest crook in America

Uncle Sam — The Biggest Crook in America

WASHINGTON, Sept. 30 /Christian Newswire/ — Don Swarthout, President of Christians Reviving America’s Values and Patriotic Pastors asks, “Do you pay taxes? If you do, then why do you allow the Federal Government to steal your money from you?”

The Federal Government has stolen money from Social Security taxes which you have paid for years. When they collected more than they paid out our elected officials simply stole money from those taxes they collected and now they claim they do not have enough money left to pay the benefits they owe to you and me.

Now the Federal Government says that unless they TAX the people $700,000,000,000 dollars our economy will fail. Included in the original bail out was a group, known as ACORN, which is under investigation in 12 states for voter fraud. Yet the Federal Government was planning on giving ACORN some of your money. Barack Obama was once tied to ACORN and supposedly has done work for them.

Actually the Federal Government has no way of raising money to give away except by TAXING YOU! Swarthout asks; “Why do we allow the Federal Government to steal our money like we allow them to steal Social Security? Why do you and I allow the Federal Government to steal our money by their wasteful spending and by spending it on so called earmarks that are added to other bills?”

As citizens of the United States, we are supposed to be in charge of our government. Our government is not supposed to be in charge of us. Actually we should consider voting everyone out of office everyone who spends your money recklessly and WITHOUT YOUR APPROVAL!

Swarthout said, “Let’s you and I take back the government of OUR COUNTRY by paying close attention to our government and by calling them every time they propose some stupid idea. The vast majority of people who called the United States Congress opposed the idea of a bailout! This proves how effective we can become!”

The visual generation — the death of discernment

The Visual Generation – The Death of Discernment

When Chairman Mao of China wanted to reach an entire generation, many who were illiterate, he produced his communist message in “comic book” style. It resulted in an entire generation of youth jumping onboard Mao’s red wagon and subsequently tearing down the culture and traditions and the very structures of one of the oldest societies in the world.

In America it is mindless, Godless and feckless TV programming, You Tube and Hollywood’s latest offering of films that pour images on an entire generation. The result is exactly the same as it was in China but on a much larger scale and with so much more to lose.

If you asked anyone who is considering voting for Barack Obama or any liberal why they chose that candidate, the answer you will most likely hear is, “I like him.” or “he looks good to me.”

If he, she or it looks good that’s good enough for the “media generation.” No discernment needed, wisdom is too hard to acquire and who has more than a few seconds of time in this world of screen shots, blips and spot messages to look any deeper. A new language and a new media has developed that thrives on abbreviated communications; OMG could I be talking about texting?

People who read entire books and articles to learn something or to see an authors point are becoming rare. Just getting to this sentence means you probably are one of those people. You may have read some Hemingway, Joyce, even Shakespeare or at the very least the morning paper. You may be one of the rare breed of people that actually forms opinions and conclusions based on a careful weighing of all the facts.

In the Bible (1 Cor 12:10) there is mention of a “spiritual gift” known as “discerning of spirits.” Unfortunately that gift is often placed in a list of charismatic type gifts that end up being thought of as something only practiced by a few Pentecostal people. In fact the language of 1:Cor 12:10 connotes the idea of a “judging through” of any and all matters not a fleeting spiritual thought dropping out of the ether.

Discerning of spirits is a God given enterprise that does not work unless God is brought into the equation. He unveils, reveals or shows the deepest meaning of things to the deepest people. They are a peculiar people who weigh everything and refuse to make prejudiced and extraneous judgments based only on what they see or have heard from the grape vine, the media or God knows where!

It is the rarity of such people that serves as only one of a few reasons that can be found for the wholesale blindness that seems to be accompanying the decisions made by the American public about their presidential candidates.

The biblically based reason is far more obvious and it reads like this, “In whom the god of this world (Satan) hath blinded the minds of them which believe not” (2 Cor 4:4a) It is what allows people to assent to what late night talk show hosts say about candidates instead of listening to the candidates themselves and comparing that to all that has gone before. It is almost perverse, because it is a “spirit” that drives the average person to use no “spiritual” discernment at all.

It is what causes thousands to think Rick Warren is actually helping the American public to choose a better candidate by bringing John McCain and Barack Obama to “Saddleback” so they can smooth out their differences.  The program or show (side show) is partly sponsored by Meg Riley who formerly headed up her denomination’s homosexual advocacy office.  It raises the serious question of whose purpose is the author of “The Purpose Driven Life” fulfilling? It’s a show, a visual, and a media attraction with or without knowing exactly what is really driving Rick Warren’s purpose. What Evangelist Bill Keller told his over two million subscribers on his daily devotional July 26, 2008, was that Warrens sideshow is a “load of garbage.”

Has Keller crossed the sacred PC line and sinned against society? No, what he has really done is used God given discernment based on sound scriptural teachings and mustered the guts to say it out loud to a You Tube generation that would rather watch hours of delightful nonsense and tripe  rather than discern anything that matters. Kudos to Bill Keller, shame on Rick Warren!

Sadly, what is really happening is what the Apostle James and other biblical authors predicted would become commonplace as we approach the second coming of Christ. James said,”Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?” (James 2:4) King James Version or not this is exactly the meaning of “choosing between the lesser of two evils.” Not much discernment needed to know what that means. This is America today.

The greatest loss from the abandoning of discernment is that America has lost the connection. We are no longer able to discern the “connection” between our morality and all the other issues. The truth is that the economy, our security, and all the other matters of our national life depend on and are inextricably linked to our morality. We have mistakenly allocated morality to an aspect of our religious life and have thereby disconnected it from our own larger national welfare and security.

Political candidates, the news media and pundits rant about the economy, the war, taxes, crime and all the so called “critical issues” while ignoring the gross immorality of homosexuality, abortion, media filth, evolutionary dogma that passes itself of as academic freedom and general sensory driven visual tripe from Hollywood and similar sources. Morality is relegated to the churches and a few PC deficient fundamentalist Bible thumping diehards who just won’t seem to go away.

The result of all this distraction derived from the lack of discernment is in a word: judgment. But is it inevitable? Does the sun Rise? Does the sun set? It is God’s judgment that follows the refusal to use our own better judgment.

Using judgment is not a luxury that is reserved for a few and can be ignored by all others. In fact it is a biblical imperative that if ignored will have an immediate and devastating effect on everyone in our nation “The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.”(Isa 59:8)

The simplest rule for using good judgment turns out to be just the opposite of what is being done in America’s visual generation. Here it is; “Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.” Jesus, John 7:24.

If you have any discernment left and you must if you’ve gotten this far into this article then let me suggest that you pray for America to once again make decisions based on sound wisdom and spiritual discernment.

Ronald Reagan is back and he is you

Ronald Reagan is back, and he is you

Friends, conservatives often complain that no one has ever risen to take the place of Ronald Reagan in our government.

But Ronald Reagan is back, and he is you! His spirit has never once left us.

His spirit was alive and well when you stood up last year and opposed the bipartisan amnesty bill that you knew the Gipper wouldn’t approve.

He was here again today in our Congress during the vote that failed to pass a bill that would have made slaves of every one of us and ended free market capitalism forever in the USA.

Fox News said legislators received 999 calls out of 1,000 opposing the bailout. Fox commentators didn’t look too happy about that and the results of today’s vote. I imagine many of them, like Neil Cavuto, are heavily invested in stocks. (Isn’t it interesting that, although almost 100% of us oppose the bailout, Fox News continues to drone on about how important it is for the taxpayer to foot the bills for the crooks in government. Looks like conservatives have broken with their task master).

I realize that the stock market does not like this, but look, I have stock too, and I know that if we show these lazy pandering politicians we won’t let them enslave us, our children will grow up in a better, safer world.

And it won’t happen again!

Letter to Congressman Platts and Sen. Arlen Specter

As you know, the current financial crisis originated with the Democratic Party in 1977 when Carter’s Community Reinvestment Act passed. Then Clinton strengthened these provisions by making it mandatory for banks to lend at least $1 trillion in subprime loans. At that point, this ideologically driven effort to provide “affordable” loans began driving up housing prices drastically. But corrupt community organizing agencies like ACORN and La Raza didn’t seem to mind that their constituents now had to pay more for homes they couldn’t afford in the first place. The present administration more than doubled Clinton’s quota, and the HUD web site currently carries a paragraph on Bush’s “zero downpayment initiative.” Conservative sources are lamenting that Bush had repeatedly asked for more oversight during his 2 terms and called for tighter regulations. Yet it looks like the President, in complete agreement with his friends across the aisle, actually was OVER-regulating on the side of wealth sharing (is that the new Republican way?). It might be wise for you to keep away from this malodorous situation by voting against ANY bailout. I checked around Wrightsville and have yet to come across anyone who has an extra $10,000 to fork over to a government that mismanages our money or who believes it is government’s job to own and run businesses Soviet style.

(I followed this up with phone calls)

Thank you.

Letter to the National Association of Realtors

NAR email address (attn. Mary Trupo): mtrupo@realtors.org

Hello Mary,

I saw this at the NAR web site:

“The National Association of Realtors® supports the ongoing bipartisan efforts to address the current crisis in the financial and secondary markets. While we await further details and will continue to be active in helping to shape the legislation, NAR believes these efforts are imperative to restore market liquidity.”

Unfortunately, I infer from this that your organization is in favor of the current bipartisan efforts to make tax payers responsible for what you know the government caused in the most callous and cynical possible manner.

I say that because I saw an entry at the NAR web site some years back that asked the government for more fiscal responsibility in the management of subprime loans and in regulations requiring banks to issue them.

That tells me that you saw this financial crash coming.

Now that it is here, your response seems chillingly impersonal, almost surreal.

Where is the anger? You saw it coming. Now you are coolly requesting a bipartisan effort to bail out the mortgage banks as if the blame lay with irresponsible borrowers, when it was government-backed lenders and the very politicians you now ask to control the financial market who caused this debacle. There was genuine concern reflected in your letter to the administration, asking for a relaxation of the risky experimental government requirements under the Carter administration’s Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and the Clinton and Bush administrations’ insistence on forcing banks to issue ever higher-risk loans. It was like a destructive test of a boiler.

You knew that the lending institutions eventually would fail under these policies and you took the initiative to ask them to stop. But now that the disaster is here, you are expecting them to pass the loss on to those of us who pay our bills on time. I understand your fear, but I don’t understand why we the taxpayers, most of whom pay our bills on time, can be held responsible.

I am asking your organization for a stronger condemnation of the failed bipartisan policies that foisted dangerous subprime lending practices on banks and Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac. Tell the media that you, as business people, knew this policy was doomed to failure, had warned the government about this, that the blame goes to both parties, and that you are leery about leaving the fox in charge of the hen house, particularly since the proposed plan threatens the free market like nothing ever has before in American history.

If you are silent now and fail to condemn these failed lending policies and put the blame where it belongs, on both sides of the aisle, then there is no way to avoid a repeat of this bitter experience for you, your clients and every American taxpayer.

Please issue a press release condemning the reckless policies that you watched destroy your industry! And please do not pass this one off on the taxpayer. It will surely come back to haunt you.

Best Regards,

Don Hank,

Self-censorship of “conservative” media — Be afraid!

The big scandal here is that no one in the media, whether “conservative” or liberal, will talk about the lawsuit against Obama. I recall recently that a caller to the Glenn Beck radio program brought this up. Immediately, Glenn told her this issue was nothing in comparison to so many other really important issues, and that there is no need to discuss it.

So much for the “free” conservative media. Rush is silent on this issue, and so is Hannity. And even “conservative” news sites on the web are ignoring it.

So what if this is not the “opportune” time to mention it? So what if it puts Hillary in a position to regain her candidacy? So what if liberals don’t want you to know?

This silence on the issue is proof that the press, whether “conservative” (I don’t think it is) or liberal, is in some way operating in someone’s interests, and that someone is not you!

Think about it: why is it that a Brazilian Newspaper (Diário do Comércio) is carrying news that is, for all intents and purposes, censored in the US?

I hope to be able to comment further on the self-censorship and the recent distortions in the “conservative” media. (Have you noticed how no one is protesting the bailout? They limit themselves to a discussion of who gets what of your money. Sickening!)

Obama runs away from a lawsuit

Olavo de Carvalho

Diário do Comércio (São Paulo, Brazil), Sept. 26th 2008

September 24 was the deadline for Barack Obama to file a response to the lawsuit, initiated by Democratic lawyer Philip Berg, which charges Obama of not fulfilling the constitutional requirements to be elected president, as he is not a natural born citizen of the United States. Barack Obama did not actually respond: he introduced a motion for dismissal, a typical delaying maneuver that makes the defendant look even more suspect.

A motion for dismissal consists in alleging that the plaintiff did not provide enough evidence to justify the continuation of the suit. That Obama’s lawyers would use this maneuver is a curious sample of the revolutionary inversion of judicial logic. Berg’s central argument is that Obama has not presented a printed birth certificate. It is the duty of the candidate to prove that he is a natural born American citizen, not the duty of the plaintiff to prove that he is not. The hard fact that the document has never came to light is enough for the suit to go forward, as there is not a single piece of evidence attesting that Obama has legal citizenship. But to this undeniable assertion, Berg has added some strong evidence that: (1) the electronic copy of the birth certificate exhibited by Obama’s campaign is false; (2) Obama was born in Kenya. By challenging the insufficiency of these supplemental arguments, Obama’s lawyers are trying to dodge responding the central point: where is the paper version of the certificate?  If Obama had one, it would be enough to present it and he would be acquitted on the spot. What his lawyers have done suggests that he has no American birth certificate whatsoever.

In return, they have gained time, but at the expense of sowing the seed of a constitutional crisis that will fatally blow up sooner or later. If the suit is resolved only after the election – and if Obama is elected – instead of simply nullifying a candidacy the United States will find itself in the contingency of having to topple a president, automatically raising the ire of his devotees. Or else, the United States will have to sacrifice its Constitution and laws on the altar of a grotesque pseudo-religion, artificial to the utmost, in which millions of idiots kneel down before an improvised arriviste without even bothering to ask where  he came from.  Both hypotheses are frightening, and if the motion for dismissal is accepted by the court, there will be no third one any more.

More and more I convince myself that all this, form the beginning, was in the calculations of the creators of the Obama myth. More that just electing a president, they wished to implode a nation.

 P. S. – All the documents in the lawsuit are in Phillip Berg’s site www.obamacrimes.com. If you have difficulties accessing it, do not be surprised: it has received over 15 million visitors in the last few days and there has been a bit of a traffic jam.

Obama can’t fix what his party broke

Obama can’t fix what his party broke

by Donald Hank

Before reading further, make sure you see this amazing video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5tZc8oH–o

Did you see the debate last night?

Despite his relaxed exterior, and his pontifications on the economy, Obama was on the defensive, as well he should have been. McCain knew stuff he didn’t know, like the difference between a strategy and a tactic, or the names of presidents in Eastern Europe. After McCain rattled off these names and associated facts, Obama could only say “I agree with Senator McCain on this.” It was obviously all he could say. And then there was the gaffe about “taking out” Pakistan. And the misquote of Kissinger. Not a good night for Barack.

McCain was like a father lecturing to a son who hadn’t done his homework.

Again, Obama tried to make the claim that McCain is a laissez-faire capitalist who wants no regulation of the Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac, and, unfortunately, McCain muffed his chance to really explain the crash mechanism as well as Barack’s (and the Democrats’) primary role in the crash. Republican politicians seems to have little understanding of this mechanism, but it is all important for voters to know.

Folks, I had written a column on Bush’s role in the bank crashes that some thought was blasphemous, but what I said had to be said and no one else was willing to say it (that’s what Laigle’s Forum is all about, you know). And now we know the role Bush played in bringing down the banks. So is the bank crash all about Bush?

Not by a long shot, although he aided and abetted. It is more about Obama, his pals and his party. Much more.

I believe Bush’s role is related to his blind belief in New Age Christianity. As I have shown in various columns, evangelical Christians have been brainwashed by the Left into accepting what we might call “Christian socialism,” which includes teachings of globalism and surrender of sovereignty. Mainstream pastors now talk as though God had added an eleventh commandment: Thou shalt share the wealth. Indeed, my Brazilian colleague Olavo de Carvalho showed that the revolutionary mindset, which we now call the Left, started as a Christian heresy in the 13th century. Strangely, this heresy, which teaches that Christians must build the kingdom of God by eliminating social injustice, is now becoming the dominant doctrine in America, to our great peril, and the latest financial crash is its spawn. This heresy was first introduced into the American church by way of the far Christian Left (Jim Wallis, Tony Campolo) and was mainstreamed by preachers like Robert Schuller and later his protégées such as Rick Warren as well as supposedly “conservative” church leaders. If this sounds like blasphemy to you, you are no doubt a true believer in the emergent church’s New Age teachings. Beware.

But yes, the crash is really mostly about Obama and his party, which sabotaged American business.  Characteristically of the Left, they behaved like naughty school kids who made the spitballs and let other kids throw them. That’s how it works. There are always some smart aleck troublemakers who are highly popular and the other, shy kids with a good upbringing, want to imitate them. Pretty soon the kids with the good upbringing are the worst offenders in the schoolyard and the smart alecks are posing as angels, laughing up their sleeves as the poor suckers get punished.

Naughty boy Jimmy Carter (another Christian leftist, by the way) started things off by introducing the Community Reinvestment Act in 1977, which the Democrats passed. This was a typical Carter goody-goody initiative to bring housing to people who would only get housing if you twisted their arms and made them pay no more than they would pay to rent. You know, the group we used to be called poor credit risks. Now we call them the “underserved.”

The program was modestly dimensioned at first and ran with no major glitches until Clinton took it into high gear, demanding $1 trillion in sub-prime mortgages, with the semi-government bureaucracies Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac leading the charge. Banks that could not or would not comply were punished. Punished for implementing nothing other than good business practice, mind you! (Remember that government-business partnerships are a feature of fascism, hardly the American way).

Then Bush morphed into Clinton on steroids and all but doubled the percentage of subprime loans, but added the cherry to the sundae with his “zero down payment initiative.”

There were a few futile attempts to put the brakes on, notably Senator McCain’s attempt in 2005 to enact the Housing Enterprise Regulatory Act. The Democrats blocked it. Obama doesn’t want you to know any of this, and the networks and mainstream media are helping him hide it and sell his fiction.

In all fairness to Bush, he too had tried to rein in Fanny and Freddy, back in 2003, but ran up against the Democrats.

So while Bush must take some of the blame, because he did push for higher percentages of sub-prime mortgages and his administration did write the disgraceful “Zero-Downpayment Initiative,” he was, after all, just following the Democrats’ lead and, I believed, trying, in a bungling way, to be a good little Christian, guided, unfortunately, by principles of the Christian Left, which had subtly and gradually become the mainstream in America.

Bottom line: while Obama claims regulation is necessary and accuses McCain of not wanting it, it was McCain himself who tried to introduce regulatory legislation that would help remedy the damage done by the Democrats through over-regulation of the socialist kind.

Keep that in mind when you go to the polls.

Plenty of shame to go around

The Right grovels, the Left takes the spoils

We had previously shown how the Bush administration had so willingly run along with the Left’s agenda to provide affordable housing to minorities, demanding that 50% and more of Fanny Mae mortgages go to minorities, and even trying to foist a “no-downpayment” scheme on the public.

Today we look at how the other side of the aisle, including Barack Obama, shamefully benefitted from Fanny and Freddy’s donations.

It is clear from all reports that, while Bush and RINOs groveled to ingratiate themselves with the kingpins of Big Mortgage, these kingpins were pushing for more power to the Left.

The easiest explanation why the Republicans want to run along with this shameful process is that there seems no longer to be any meaningful difference in ideology between the two parties.

We now have a one-party system, and it is up to American ingenuity to destroy this evil empire before it destroys us.

Your fury is ignited and is growing. It may be sufficient to turn enough Americans against the elites who brought on this financial crash to elect a third party candidate.

Not much is known about our most viable alternative, Chuck Baldwin, but he does have some surprisingly powerful endorsements, such as Jerome Corsi.

They say he has no government experience.

Neither did George Washington.

Are you angry enough to ditch the Republicans who helped mightily to bring down the American economy and are now poised to socialize the American financial market?

Do you dare to dream?

Another alternative is to vote for McCain and then be prepared to fight him tooth and nail on issues like finance and illegal immigration for the next 4 years. We have not found the new Reagain, but have you ever considered that you, the American people, can be the Reagan you long for? Think about it.

At any rate, you can start by opposing the bailout like you opposed the amnesty bill. If you give it your best shot, that miscreant legislation will fail.

From the Heritage Foundation:

Morning Bell: A Vicious Cycle of Their Own Making

“But Fannie and Freddie pushed back hard, turning to friends on the left for protection. Former Walter Mondale and Barack Obama campaign adviser James Johnson led a fierce lobbying campaign to fight reform of Freddie and Fannie. Clinton administration OMB director Franklin Raines told investors when he was Fannie Mae CEO in 1999: “We manage our political risk with the same intensity that we manage our credit and interest rate risks.” Fannie and Freddie’s lobbying power over the left continues to be strong to this day. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, the top three recipients of campaign donations from Freddie and Fannie’s PACs and employees are all Democrats. From 1989 through today, Sen. Chris Dodd received $165,400, Barack Obama $126,349, and John Kerry $111,000. The Washington Post concludes: ‘Blessed with the advantages of a government agency and a private company at the same time, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac used their windfall profits to co-opt the politicians who were supposed to control them.'”

Update: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Invest in Lawmakers

Published by Lindsay Renick Mayer on September 11, 2008 11:26 AM | Permalink | Comments (22)

When the federal government announced two months ago that it would prop up mortgage buyers Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, CRP looked at how much money members of Congress had collected since 1989 from the companies. On Sunday the government completely took over the two government-sponsored enterprises, and we’ve returned to our data to bring you the updates, this time providing a list of all 354 lawmakers who have gotten money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (in July we posted the top 25). These totals are based on data released electronically from the FEC on Sept. 2 and include contributions to lawmakers’ leadership PACs and candidate committees from the floundering companies’ PACs and employees. Current members of Congress have received a total of $4.8 million from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, with Democrats collecting 57 percent of that. This week we also wrote about how much money lawmakers had invested of their own money in the companies last year–a total of up to $1.7 million.

Bush: Free market is best — under government control, that is

Bush: Free market is best – under government control, that is

By Donald Hank

President Bush’s speech of 9/05/08 gave various reasons for the recent financial crash involving, among others, Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers, AIG, Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac. But he overlooked one reason — the underlying one.

He attributed the crash to a large influx of money to US banks and financial institutions, which in turn made it easy for people to get credit, leading them to borrow for cars, college tuition, homes and so on. He said “Easy credit combined with the faulty assumption that home values would continue to rise, led to excesses and bad decisions.”

Ok, let’s stop right there and analyze this. The last sentence indicates all this was your fault, you irresponsible borrower.

But was it?

American realtors had seen a crisis on the horizon as early as July 15, 2004, when the National Association of Realtors sent a letter to HUD expressing their concerns that a proposed rule to increase the percentage of mortgages to “underserved” populations (minorities) could create precisely the kind of market destabilization that led to the recent meltdown.

What was this rule? Under Clinton, Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac were obligated to serve at least 21% of the “underserved” communities with mortgages. Under Bush, the percentage more than doubled. In reality this translated into providing mortgages to a significant number of families who simply could not afford them, at sub-prime rates and often with no down payment required. For many, foreclosure was a foregone conclusion at the outset. It was affirmative action for borrowers and worked just as well as the affirmative action in colleges, where minorities were assured of admission under diluted requirements, and almost equally assured of failing after the first year. Like welfare, which harmed the inner cities by making out of wedlock births a lucrative business, leading inevitably to an astronomical incarceration rate for blacks, it ensured failure for minority home-owners, making ownership a revolving door. For many in the “underserved” community, it was: “welcome homeowner,” followed immediately by “get out, deadbeat”!

This is really the essence of “compassionate conservatism,” which is a euphemism for a planned economy. Thus the people blaming the crisis on lack of regulation had actually made and enforced regulations that brought down the financial markets. Regulation was in fact the disease pathogen, not the remedy.

Bush goes on: “I’m a strong believer in free enterprise, so my natural instinct is to oppose government intervention. I believe companies that make bad decisions should be allowed to go out of business.”

He then explains that this current crisis is an exception and describes the “distressing scenario” that must be avoided at all expense — your expense, that is:

More banks could fail, including some in your community. The stock market would drop even more, which would reduce the value of your retirement account. The value of your home could plummet. Foreclosures would rise dramatically.

But the banks that would fail would be the ones most heavily invested in the “compassionate conservatism” that you promoted through your HUD rules, Mr. Bush. That would be a very good thing. They should fail. They embraced the false utopian ideal of “social justice” at the expense of self-regulation of markets.

“And if you own a business or a farm, you would find it harder and more expensive to get credit. More businesses would close their doors, and millions of Americans could lose their jobs.”

Farmers and small businesses running thriftily will be the ones to survive. That too would be good, if only because it would enable the market to punish the foolish investors and reward the wise ones. And that in turn would serve as a useful example to the next generation of business people. If people became unemployed, they would be reminded that politicians who push snake-oil schemes with names like “compassionate conservatism” (or for that matter, who excuse illegal immigrants by saying things like “they are good people looking for a better way of life”) ultimately result in lost jobs.

“Even if you have good credit history, it would be more difficult for you to get the loans you need to buy a car or send your children to college. And, ultimately, our country could experience a long and painful recession.”

Mr. Bush, it should be difficult to get loans. They aren’t for everyone. They are for people with good credit, regardless of race, color or creed. Period. But even so, how is the taxpayers experiencing an unwieldly debt any better than Americans experiencing a “long and painful recession”?

David Walker, the ex US Controller General, predicted that over the next 75 years the gap between what has been promised for entitlement programs like social security and Medicare and how much in dedicated revenue is likely to be received (e.g., through payroll taxes and premiums) is $38.8 trillion. Walker calls these “implicit exposures,” and says they represent the money we would need today, invested at Treasury rates, to pay for future entitlements. This gap represents over $128,000 for every man, woman, and child in the United States.

Peter Sims writes:

According to the GAO, the total fiscal burden over the next 75 years represents $400,000 for every full-time worker in the United States and $440,000 per household.

The bipartisan bailout plan is typical Bush double-talk. While paying lip service to the free market at the beginning of his speech, Bush sounds like a true leftwing revolutionary when his alter ego chimes in:

“Earlier this year, Secretary Paulson proposed a blueprint that would modernize our financial regulations. For example, the Federal Reserve would be authorized to take a closer look at the operations of companies across the financial spectrum and ensure that their practices do not threaten overall financial stability.”

In other words, the free market is fine, as long as it is under government control. That is why both parties can reach across the aisle so easily and into your pocketbook.

If McCain signs on to this plan and manages to somehow get elected, look for 4 more years of disastrous Bushonomics posing as free market principles.

If Obama gets elected, look for the same, but called by its real name: socialism.

If you agree that America deserves better than this devil’s bargain, contact your lawmaker at the site linked below and tell them to vote AGAINST the bailout:

PS: For those who think I am making this up, here is the Bush Administration’s HUD site and a quote from that site promoting the “zero downpayment” initiative:

 http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/09/20040902-5.html

  • “Zero-Downpayment Initiative. In his FY 2005 budget, the President proposed the Zero-Downpayment Initiative. Preliminary projections indicate this Initiative would help about 150,000 homebuyers in the first year alone. This proposal would eliminate the statutory requirement of a minimum three percent down payment for FHA-insured single-family mortgages for first-time homebuyers. “

Book shows homosexuals can be reclaimed

Book review: Light in the Closet, Torah, Homosexuality, and the Power to Change

A new book, Light in the Closet, Torah, Homosexuality, and the Power to Change by Arthur Goldberg, scheduled for release on October 23 by Red Heifer Press (www.redheiferpress.com), is creating buzz in the community. The book breaks new ground. It explains the harmony of the psychological healing for homosexuality with the classic teachings of Judaism, with an emphasis on Torah (a/k/a Old Testament or Hebrew Bible) sources. The book works through three millennia of discussion on sexuality issues from the Torah to contemporary rabbinical commentary.

Written in an engaging and accessible style for the layman, the book also examines many aspects of the homosexual issue as well as other sexuality issues within our culture, both from a biblical perspective and a secular and scientific point of view.
This fascinating book also explodes the “gay gene” mystique and describes the deliberate strategy of gay activists and their allies to culturally sensitize western society to the subject matter so that a large portion of society now seeks to normalize a behavior clearly forbidden by the Bible.  This well-documented eye-opening manuscript explains, for example, how the gay activists have carried the homosexual agenda into the public school systems, the extent of state-sanctioned disinformation and censorship, and the socialist origins of gay anti-religionism.

Light in the Closet also explains many other sexual prohibitions of the Bible including, including for example, rarely seen discussions on how sexual reassignment surgery, bestiality, and sexual abuse of children violate specific biblical provisions. The current contentious issue of same-sex marriage within western society is explored, as is the question of gay parenting. The push to legitimize both of these situations within secular western societies makes this book particularly relevant. The numerous testimonials, both of those who have changed and those who were led astray either through gay affirmative psychology or by the cultural climate provide an insight rarely seen in books of this nature.

The purpose of entitling the book Light in the Closet is to provide a message of hope and healing for those with unwanted same sex attractions and as a contrast to those who advocate or accept the solution of “coming out of the closet” and to embrace the gay lifestyle.

More than a dozen experts in the field, including mental health professionals, prominent rabbis, and Christian leaders have reviewed the galley proof and have written rave reviews. For example, Dr. Jeffrey Satinover, a noted psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, states, in part, “Arthur Goldberg has written a brilliant, compassionate and remarkably compelling book. I consider it among the best–maybe the best–ever written on the subject not just of homosexuality but of the capacity for human change of heart…” (He himself is the author of a book on the subject in 1996 entitled Homosexuality and the Politics of Truth.)

And Dr. Joseph Nicolosi, President of NARTH for 10 years, and the author of several books in the area says, in part, “Arthur Goldberg’s sweeping and scholarly survey investigates the social, political, spiritual, medical and personal aspects of same-sex attraction. Written with both compassion and hard-hitting truth, this book unifies the wisdom of the Torah with modern psychology, and in so doing, reveals timeless truths about the human condition.”

Several prominent religious leaders, both Jewish and Christian, likewise provide strong endorsements. For example, a leading rabbinical scholar, Rabbi Michel Twerski states, that the manuscript reflects an “extraordinarily compelling and literate analysis of SSA and its treatment modalities. He comments that the author, Arthur Goldberg, proves himself “a worthy heir to the mantle of the patriarch Abraham, who dared to speak the truth in a generation inflamed with idolatry and its twisted presentations of morality.” Christian leaders have been no less generous in their praise. Reverend Jeff Winter, Chairman of OnebyOne and Pastor, Faith Community Church of Martha’s Vineyard, states, “No person who is concerned about the growing acceptance of homosexuality can afford to ignore this book.  Goldberg’s razor-sharp logic and exhaustive Old Testament research will make this book a crucial voice in the contemporary debate on homosexuality.”

Those interested in ordering the book can do so by emailing the publisher at editor@redheiferpress.com. The cover art can be seen on the publisher’s website, www.redheiferpress.com. Discounts are available for group orders.

Does pro-life have to mean anti-sovereignty?

    Does pro-life mean anti-sovereignty?

    by Donald Hank

A while back pro-lifers started reminding us that the babies that were aborted since Wade/Roe would have been productive American workers and that there were some 40 million of them. They said that this shortfall had to be made up by immigrants and strongly suggested that God had therefore allowed the current situation of millions of illegals from Mexico. They sound almost gleeful as they announce this.

So illegal immigration and all the associated ills like increased crime, drug abuse and extra money spent on social services is a visitation of God’s wrath on America for the sin of abortion?

That’s the old liberal guilt by association theory. But a closer look shows that it wasn’t God who intervened to punish us but rather the neocons under George Bush-the same ones who teamed up with the Democrats to punish us via our financial markets. And it is not the Christian God who started and perpetuated this myth but rather some corrupt left-leaning church leaders, including many evangelicals, who use this argument to defang opponents who have legitimate concerns about the invasion from Mexico.

A while back I got in trouble with some of the anti-sovereigns in the pro-life movement when I ran my article exposing pro-lifer Mike Huckabee’s choice of Richard Haass as his proposed secretary of state. Haass is the President of the Council on Foreign Relations, which in itself is a huge red flag, but worse, had recently written a paper saying that we need to “rethink” the idea of sovereignty (meaning it is no longer needed in our post-modern world). I had also shown elsewhere how prominent church leaders like Dr. Richard Land, of the Southern Baptist Convention, had criticized “nationalism,” and had shown that criticizing nationalism is just a sneaky way to undermine sovereignty. (If you understand that Land also endorses Al Gore’s ideas, it is not hard to imagine where he is situated on the political spectrum.) This criticism of nationalism is found throughout the denominations in America, which are coming under increasing centralized control and becoming little more than an arm of the Left, which is the main reason why you will almost never hear a “conservative” or “evangelical” leader or pastor speaking out against lawless immigration practices or sanctuary cities.

Now that McCain has chosen Sarah Palin as his vice-presidential running mate, he has become increasingly vocal about his pro-illegal immigration views, apparently believing he is invincible. An ad his campaign recently ran in Spanish (endorsed by McCain himself) absurdly “blames” the Obama camp for blocking immigration “reform,” which smart people know is code for amnesty. Frankly, folks, if conservatives knew the Obama camp were opposed to amnesty, I am sure some would consider voting for Obama, and I wouldn’t blame them, although I am not so sure it was the Democrats who torpedoed the amnesty bill. If I recall correctly, a lot of us, myself included, lobbied so hard against that bill (supported by McCain and Bush, for example) that the congressional phone lines went down.

But McCain must take us all for a bunch of bumpkins if he thinks there aren’t any conservatives who understand Spanish and can find out what he is up to.

Michelle Malkin recently slammed McCain hard on the border-amnesty issue. And there are good blogs that show how shameless officials and their immigration policies are causing unnecessary killings, rapes and other hardships on Americans. CNN’s Lou Dobbs does an outstanding job reporting on illegal immigration, and I recommend you tune out of Fox News and into CNN for as long as his show lasts.

But Malkin and Dobbs are almost alone these days. You won’t hear much meaningful talk on illegal immigration on talk radio or Fox News these days. Sean Hannity is still blathering about the evils of the Democrats as if the Republican leadership were back in the hands of Ron Reagan, but in his interviews with McCain and Palin (where does she stand?), never mentions illegal immigration, as if the issue has gone away.

But we are far from that these days, and short of an act of God, we are in for 4 very very rocky years, no matter who is elected.

Oh, and if you believe pro-life automatically means anti-sovereignty, I have a bridge I can sell you.

Three Members of Obama’s Church Killed

Investigator close to case believes there’s more to the brutal murders than mainstream press is letting on.

    By Victor Thorn

Is a Barack Obama bombshell lurking in the shadows, waiting to derail one of the biggest Cinderella stories in recent history?

While most political prognosticators in the mainstream press presume that Obama is the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, they still wonder aloud if Hillary Clinton (or some other entity) has something up their sleeve.

The bombshell may involve the murder of Donald Young, a 47-year-old choir master at former Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s Trinity United Church of Christ-the same congregation that Obama has attended for the past 20 years. Two other young black men that attended the same church-Larry Bland and Nate Spencer-were also murdered execution style with bullets to the backs of their heads-all within 40 days of each other, beginning in November 2007. All three were openly homosexual.

What links this story to Barack Obama is that, according to an acquaintance of Obama, Larry Sinclair, Obama is a closet bisexual with whom he had sexual and drug-related encounters in November 1999.
