The non-Western press: the best antidote to media lies

The non-Western press: the best antidote to media lies

By Don Hank

If you are reading only American news, whether rightwing, leftwing or in between, you are not only most likely reading a pack of lies, you are also reading news in only essentially 2 dimensions. That is better than only one dimension, but not much. That’s because if you read Western news, you are getting mostly just a US viewpoint, since the US controls most of the Western press. I say that with full confidence because I have read enough of the European press in the native languages to see how it imitates the US. Of course, there are a few variations and it can therefore be helpful to read European news sources. But the differences are barely substantive. For example, when the CIA and its 16 puppets decided, with absolutely zero evidence, that Russia had interfered in the US election, the European media immediately parroted the lie. Worse, German TV took it to the extreme and acted just as hysterically as if Moscow had actually bombed Berlin. It was embarrassing to watch. Quite honestly I have never witnessed adults behaving like this. I mean that sincerely.

The only way out was to read those few sources that dared to buck the current.  And even those lacked perspective because they were journalists who had been weaned on US hegemony – in their view, even though the US occasionally made a few mistakes, if the world had a problem, ONLY the US was authorized to solve it. If Russia solved it, then that was as if a visiting football team had scored a point on our turf. Almost no American could conceive of there being another problem solver out there. We were God’s nation and if another nation took over our role and solved a problem that we could not solve or refused to tackle then that was horrible. Even if it was wonderful. Because that other nation — even if it was demonstrably more moral, had more common sense and behaved more maturely — could not be God’s nation. After all, God needed a single favorite nation, just as He did in the time of Moses. This is a very weird perspective if you do not happen to be an American or other Westerner. And yet even the Europeans pretty much go along with this insanity.

Consequently, here we have the US, helping to found, fund and arm jihadists in tandem with its ally Saudi Arabia, and while pretending to “fight terrorism,“ initially it does nothing to stop ISIS – allowing these blood thirsty religious fanatics to enter Iraq and Syria in long files of white Toyota trucks with machine guns mounted on the beds. Perfect targets for a fighter plane. But the US air force was nowhere to be found. It stood down as these savages blended in with the civilian populations so that any subsequent intervention would necessarily entail killing hundreds, even thousands, of civilians. Incredibly, it seemed that this unspeakable blood shed that resulted in Mosul and Aleppo was what the US wanted! Yet we have another nation that refrained from entering the fray only because it was awaiting an invitation by the sovereign government, in compliance with international law. And when the invitation came, it immediately started to attack these monsters of ISIS and also the jihadists posing as “moderate opposition,” even though some observers noticed that these “moderates” also committed atrocities and forced their notions of religious correctness on people who just wanted to be left alone.

Thus God’s nation failed. Yet God did not fail. He was  just patiently awaiting His chance, as in the story by Leo Tolstoy titled “God knows the truth but waits to tell it.”  (Here is a synopsis. You will be touched by this story:

So why could Americans not see what was happening under their noses? Why could they not see that the people they had elected were stealthily supporting terror? Immediately following a report that chemical weapons had been used in Idlib, Syria, the msm declared that the real culprit in Syria was not ISIS but the duly elected president, who had clearly been investing Syrian blood and treasure for years — along with Russia — in a desperate fight against the US’s proxy jihadists. After all, Russia had been communist until very recently, and had entered the war without the permission of the divinely annointed hegemon. They had the nerve to enter the war only with the permission of the duly elected Syrian president and not with the leaders of God’s chosen nation! How dare they! Thus reasoned many Americans. And therein lies the tragedy.

To be continued.

Terrorists who gassed Kurds welcome Trump’s Tomahawk attack, beg for more

Terrorists who gassed Kurds welcome Trump’s Tomahawk attack

 By Don Hank

The Saudi online news site Al-Sharq Al-Awsat (meaning “the Middle East”) ran an article under the headline

“Syrian Opposition Welcomes US Strike on Regime Airbase, Urges More”

QUOTE:

“Hitting one airbase is not enough, there are 26 airbases that target civilians,” a key figure in the Army of Islam faction, Mohamed Alloush, said on his Twitter account. [my emphasis – Don]So

“The whole world should save the Syrian people from the clutches of the killer Bashar (al-Assad) and his aides.”

So who is this compassionate Mohammed Alloush, that Saudi Arabia chooses to quote, and who wants to save the children from the big bad Assad and his chemical weapons attacks?

The BBC reports

“Mohammed Alloush is the political leader of the powerful, Saudi-backed group Jaysh al-Islam (Army of Islam).

Both the Syrian government and its staunch ally, Russia, consider Jaysh al-Islam a terrorist organisation.”

Here is what RT, along with other sources, says about Jaysh al-Islam:

“The Islamist group Jaysh al-Islam admitted to using chemical weapons against Kurdish militias in Aleppo. It also uses human shields and publishes execution videos – yet it has a delegation at the UN-backed Syria peace talks in Geneva.

“Jaysh al-Islam (Army of Islam), formerly known as Liwa al-Islam (Brigade of Islam), is a coalition of Salafist Islamist militant groups based in the Douma and Eastern Ghouta neighborhoods of the Syrian capital Damascus.”

[see links further below for confirmation of this RT report]

Salafist is another word for intolerant. Salafists among the opposition to Assad are invariably Wahhabists (a Sunni sect) and, accordingly, they do not tolerate other Sunnis and particularly, Shiites and Christians. Every member of ISIS and Al-Qaeda (under a variety of names) is a Wahahbist (and hence a Salafist, or rigid fundamentalist). The West wants these people in charge of Syria, at odds with the will of the Syrians, who want Assad to stay.

In other words, this opposition leader who approves of Trump’s attack on the Idlib airbase is the head of a group that has – in addition to other brutal offenses such as executing prisoners – actually gassed Kurds with chemical weapons, and yet has the gall to talk about “saving the world from the clutches of Assad,” who has been fighting terrorists for 6 years, ever since the US-backed Arab Spring in 2011.

Think about it: The leader of a group that has admitted to gassing civilians is now hypocritically supporting President Trump in his strike on Idlib, based on only an allegation, without awaiting the results of an investigation of said allegation.

Of course, the US government-media coalition, known for always telling the truth, keeps telling us that RT is a “propaganda arm” of the Kremlin, suggesting they can’t be trusted.

This is why I always cross check their data (I cannot recall other sources contradicting their facts, BTW). I found numerous sources confirming the above report on Jaysh al-Islam and its crimes. Below are a few of these sources.

Confirmation that Jaysh al-Islam used chemical weapons against Kurds:

It is confirmed by Al-Masdar, a UAE-based site that has been quoted by NewsweekThe Washington PostRTThe Independent and The Sun.[6][7][8][9][10]

kurdistan24.net confirms that Jaysh Al-Islam has admitted to chemical attacks on Kurds, and further:

“Jaysh al-Islam, which is killing the civilians in Sheikh Maqsoud, is included with the Syrian opposition delegation in the Geneva peace talks, while Kurds who are seeking peace and fighting terrorism are excluded from any talks related to the Syrian war.”

southfront.org, a multinational independent news group, also confirms that Jaysh Al-Islam has used chemical weapons.

In other news

According to Global Research the UN refutes the US version of chemical weapons attacks in Syria.

QUOTE:

Washington is Lying.

The Media is Lying.

Both Trump and Obama have blood on their hands. The Chemical Weapons Attack is being used as a “False Flag”, a pretext and a justification to wage an illegal war of aggression.

The same site asserts that Trump doesn’t intend to keep his campaign promises.

Since the attack on Idlib, Russia will beef up its defenses in Syria.

Defense Minister spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov has said that Moscow will now strengthen its air defenses over Syria.

Konashenkov was quoted by Sputnik as saying a number of systems will be added to supplement the existing S-300s and S-400s now in place. Chief of these will be the Pantsir-S1.

“This system can detect and destroy any aircraft, helicopter, guided aerial bomb or enemy ballistic missile in a matter of seconds. In addition, the Pantsir-S1…is also designed to destroy ground targets, making it truly universal. The system combines anti-aircraft missiles and cannons, and there is no analogue…in the world today,” said Konashenkov.

The spokesman says the Pantsir-S would have saved the Idlib base:

“If the Syrians had had the Pantsir-S, the outrage of the [US] cruise missile attack on the Ash Sha’irat airbase would not have happened.”

Putin speaks about shaky US position on “chemical attack” in Syria:

Giving ISIS a boost, “for the children”

Giving ISIS a big boost “for the children”

by Don Hank

Trump said recently:

“When you kill innocent children, innocent babies — babies! — little babies,” … “that crosses many, many lines. Beyond a red line, many, many lines.”

Let’s see. Was Trump condemning the attacks by terrorists in Syria, as described here?

Or was he talking about the US bombing raids in Mosul, described here?

Did he perhaps read this headline?

‘The house literally collapsed on us’: Mosul airstrikes [by US forces] that killed hundreds of civilians condemned

He must have because there had to be numerous precious little children among those hundreds of civilians killed by those American weapons of mass destruction known as aerial bombs, right?

Or was he referring to this report?

Mosul’s children were shouting beneath the rubble. Nobody came

Coalition [US coalition] bombs buried more than a hundred people in the ruins of three houses and raised fresh questions about US rules of engagement

Or was it this headline?

UNDER TRUMP, U.S. MILITARY HAS ALLEGEDLY KILLED OVER 1,000 CIVILIANS IN IRAQ, SYRIA IN MARCH

QUOTE: U.S.-led coalition airstrikes in Iraq and Syria may have already killed 1,484 civilians in just Iraq and Syria this month alone, more than three times the number killed in President Barack Obama’s final full month in office

No? He wasn’t saddened and angered by those reports?

Oh, wait. It was an unconfirmed allegation of a chemical attack supposedly committed by Syrian President Bashar Assad, even though Assad had  no  motivation whatsoever for such an attack and there was no evidence to indict Assad. Indeed, following the bombing of a terrorist nest in the area in question, a Russian team discovered a lab in which terrorists had been preparing chemical weapons.

This ties in with a report that chemical weapons were used in Mosul, where the US was bombing. Oddly, that report got little press and no one in the world accused the US or its allies of facilitating the chemical attacks.

Despite the Russian report of this evidence of terrorist involvement in the chemical attack in Syria, no media outlet in the West was interested in the report. Almost in unison, the Western press condemned Assad, thereby clearing the path for Trump’s attack using WMDs known as Tomahawk missiles, which took the lives of heroic ISIS-fighting Syrian pilots, leaving precious children fatherless.

It is important to note that world leaders had called for an investigation into the allegations against Assad, as reported here.

Now a call for an investigation indicates that there is no unanimity as to the cause and perpetrators. Right? And a retaliatory action for something that is clearly not sufficiently investigated is rash and uncalled for, at least if we are to consider ourselves civilized.

Just think. Suppose a witness in court claimed he heard someone say a defendant killed someone. And the judge, before cross examination of the witnesses, before hearing the defendant and his lawyer, before hearing the forensic expert, immediately sentences the defendant to death for murder, even though the suspect had no motive for the murder and there was credible testimony to the effect that someone else who had a motive committed the crime. And this judge, when asked by reporters after the trial why he had not allowed the defendant to defend himself, replied: “I was afraid he’d get away with it. What would that have done to my reputation?”

This absurdity is essentially what his Honor judge Donald J. Trump did on Thursday April 6, 2017, sending 59 weapons of mass destruction to attack an air base in Syria from which heroic pilots and Russian advisors had been flying sorties against terrorists for over a year, risking their lives for the Syrian people and to rid the world of the scourges of civilization called ISIS, and Al-Qaeda and its metamorphoses – groups that Trump himself claimed to oppose. Because Judge Trump, based on no evidence but the opinion of US intel agencies that had falsely condemned him no less, based on false allegations, of being a Russian spy. Now tell me, Folks, did he really believe this intel or was this attack on the sovereign Syrian people something that he had planned perhaps during his campaign, even as he promised us he would not intervene in the Middle East?

Just how intelligent is our intel? Well, some years ago, someone “disappeared” trillions of dollars at the Pentagon, and our brilliant sleuths have not yet identified this person or group and no one can find the money. Yet, a few minutes after learning of a chemical attack in a region in which terrorists are known to use chemical weapons, these same leaders know who committed the attack and it was not the terrorists.

It smells of GW Bush, and back on December 1 of last year, I warned you here of what I suspected was about to come.

Here’s the thing: Trump is a gambling man (after all, he used to build casinos). He gambled on you wanting an anti-Obama. But emails from my readers indicate that this is not quite all you wanted and that many of you will now wake up and stop the cheering.

You see, I remember many of my readers endorsing Trump because they figured Hillary was a warmonger but Trump, who had said he could get along with Putin, would bring about peace on earth, and in fact this image of Trump induced a lot of voters to switch affiliations, some because they feared a confrontation with nuclear-armed Russia.

But Trump may have fatally misjudged his voters. After all, what is anti-Obama to some is not anti-Obama to others. Like the stopped clock that tells the correct time twice a day, Obama did not always do the wrong thing. No one does. Now Obama had returned money that belonged to Iran and had been held in escrow in the US. To some, being anti-Obama would be getting tough on Iran. But softness on Iran was not Obama’s big sin. His big sin was failing to lift a pinky to stop ISIS back when that group was invading Syria and Iraq in broad daylight and its long rows of white machine gun-equipped Toyota pickups presented a perfect target. This inaction allowed the terrorists to infiltrate villages and mingle with civilians, enabling the terrorists to hold them hostage in deadly situations. Many voters were hoping Trump would brook no nonsense from ISIS but would cooperate with Russia to take down these terrorists.

But his choice of a Neocon cabinet did not fit this narrative and it cast doubt on his sincerity to fight the Establishment that had done nothing to stop terror.

In fact, Trump as president kept bad mouthing Iran even though Iran was doing a commendable job of fighting ISIS in Syria. He also told AIPAC that he would stand by Israel. Which is fine if all he meant was that he defended Israel’s right to exist and live in peace. But coinciding with this US attack, Israel is now asking for a buffer zone in Syria. Which is odd. Israel already occupies the Syrian Golan Heights. Many keen observers think they are just grabbing more elbow room, which is their MO.

Now if Americans just simply acquiesce to this illegal and irrational action on the part of the man they elected, he will, like Dubya after the Iraq war, most likely simply stay the course, believing that you support him. The most important mission of every American today is to show you do not support this attack, which provides assistance to ISIS. These terrorists are already feeling their oats and taking full advantage of the cover kindly provided by the administration, as described here.

SYRIA: SOMETHING IS NOT ADDING UP IN IDLIB CHEMICAL WEAPONS ATTACK

White Helmets [this group has already been identified as a fake, as detailed here and here] are handling the corpses of people without sufficient safety gear, most particularly with the masks…as well as no gloves… a doctor in a hospital full of victims of sarin gas has the time to tweet and make video calls.

SYRIA: IT’S WMD ALL OVER AGAIN. WHY DON’T YOU SEE IT?
Two points occur. One, the western power, by consorting with such people, demonstrate that their exaggerated disgust at the Assad government is selective and unreal. Two, they demonstrate that our continuing desire to be on good terms with Saudi Arabia lies beneath our whole foreign policy in this region. And which state loathes President Assad more than anyone? Why, Wahhabi Saudi Arabia, which despises Assad for his Alawite heresy, and hates him for his alliance with Shia Iran.

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/46812.htm

A friend alerted me to a NYT op-ed that is out of keeping with that outlet’s general viewpoint and correctly identifies the source of the problem.

QUOTE: What hardly any Israelis will consider, though, and virtually no influential voices in the West will publicly suggest, is that Israel — not Hezbollah in Lebanon, nor Hamas in Gaza, nor the government of President Bashar al-Assad in Syria — is provoking the next war. Counterintuitive though it may be to Israeli and most Western minds, Israel, not its militant Islamist or brutal Syrian enemies, is the aggressor in these border wars.

The Muslims-are-all-bad meme fuels terror

The Muslims-are-all-bad meme fuels terror

by Don Hank

Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.  1 Corinthians 16:13

I keep getting emails praising this or that Islam “expert” who rages against Islam per se and holds up Israel as a shining light in a world of darkness (see below). But these experts don’t mean Israel, they mean the war hawk Likud party which seeks to invade Iran to enlarge its elbow room, using false narratives of the “threat” posed by Tehran. Yet Likud does not equal Israel and for that matter, the Israel of today is not the Israel of antiquity that God blessed. God banished those Israelites from their land when they turned their backs on Him. Pray tell, in view of the fact that only a fraction of Israelis believe in the God of Abraham, when have they turned godly again? A while back I asked a “Zionist Christian” friend that question and never heard back from him.

Unfortunately, though, the vast majority of these people who “enlighten” us about Islam make no distinction between Sunni and Shia, and yet such distinction is one of the vital facts any real expert would know and teach. The reason for this is political. Every single ISIS member is SUNNI and belongs to the most violent and intolerant religious sect in the world, the SUNNI sect of Wahhabism, a product of the Saudi dictatorship to which Washington bows. Not just the Democrats. ALL of Washington.

EVERY single Al-Qaeda member, including Osama bin Laden, is also a SUNNI Wahhabist, and so is EVERY single Taliban member.

BTW, this is not to say that all Sunnis are dangerous or potentially so. Consider that Sunni-majority Indonesia has the highest Muslim population of any country, and yet we almost never hear of terror acts committed by Indonesians against Westerners (though Shia-Sunni rifts are common), and yet, most of them are Sunni. This is because modernist Islam (a moderate Islam heavily influenced by Islamic thinkers influenced in turn by the West) predominates there, where the government is generally secularist – just as the governments of Assad, Saddam Hussein and Ghadaffi are or were secularist, and terrorists, for example, are or were not tolerated. It is, of course, no coincidence that the West has opposed these secularists, paying obeisance to the Saudis and their zeal to spread Islam by the sword. No surprise. But no excuse either.

Despite the relative moderation of the Shiites compared to the Sunnis in the Middle East, as described above, for purely political reasons, it is de rigueur to claim that Shiite IRAN is the biggest terror supporter in the world.

To add to the utter absurdity of the official Western narrative, Iran is fighting ISIS in Syria. Of course, these same “enlighteners” regarding Islam never dare mention that Assad, the man we are supposed to hate, is also a Shiite, of the Alawite sect, or that the Alawites are by far the most tolerant and non-violent of all Muslims and are hated by the Saudis for it. The Western call to oust Assad is just a genuflection toward the tyrannical Saudis with whom the US is joined at the hip for reasons discussed in part here and here.

Anyone who tries to create the impression that Iran is a threat to civilization is simply caving to the Neocons who gave the world near-total chaos in the Middle East. No matter what the consequences, this myth must be broken. Nothing is more important. If anyone tries to sell you this swill, ask them to name ONE terror attack in Europe or the US that was perpetrated by Iranians or Hezbollah.

The notion that ALL MUSLIMS are evil and dangerous in fact plays into the narrative of the Neocons, who use this simplistic notion of a monolithic, heterogeneous Islam to wage war strictly against the SHIITES, precisely the branch of Islam that is fighting ISIS. After all, if All Muslims are equally dangerous and evil, then we have a mandate to destroy Iran and Assad as well, and that is exactly what they want you to believe. We often hear from our kindly, enlightened Christian conservative friends: Kill them all and let God sort them out.

But the fact is, NEVER in a million years would the world be able to rid itself of the Saudi-supported ISIS if no one ever challenged the ALL-MUSLIMS-ARE-EVIL myth. Because without the “evil” Iranians and the “evil” Assad, Syria would still be in the grip of ISIS, which, may I remind the reader, would not be there had it not been for wholehearted Western support for the Arab Spring and subsequent arms and support supplied to the “moderates” by US war enthusiasts. Needless to say, all of the moderates are Sunni Wahhabists.

Part of this challenge is NEVER to give credence to those who support the anti-Iran myths. Unfortunately, the myth is supported by BOTH sides of the aisle in Washington and by many intellectually lazy Americans, both conservative and liberal, who are waiting patiently under the table for the Washington Establishment to someday throw them a few scraps as long as they don’t meddle in the State Department’s meddling. ONLY Russia challenges this myth and fights alongside the Shiites in their war against the SUNNI terror supported clandestinely by the US and EU governments.

Ironically, US foreign policy today is in the hands of people who rail against political correctness, but these are precisely the ones who by their actions support the SUNNI radical Saudi Arabia while making the absolutely false and dangerous claim that IRAN is the biggest terror supporter. (So please, put aside your cheerleading role and don your watchdog hat).

Ask yourself: Are you REALLY politically incorrect or is your mind being controlled by a gigantic hoax even as you cheer on the ringleaders?

Does Russia have us outgunned? Part 4 (short answer: yes)

Does Russia have the US outgunned?

Part 4 of the translation of:

http://inosmi.ru/military/20170302/238812175.html

Obama officially ended the use of miultichannel missiles in US air defense missiles: http://allthingsnuclear.org/emacdonald/the-end-of-mirvs-for-u-s-icbms

He did not require Russia to do likewise. This unilateral disarmament is apparently ok with the rest of the government too. In other words, all this palavering about the Russian influence on US elections is just politics. It has nothing to do with real life and the elites know it. You can bet that if the pols and journos who infest our environment were really serious about defense, they would be protesting the unilateral disarmament tolerated by our government, not snivelling about Putin influencing our elections, without an ounce of proof. In reality, they know the Russians are not about to invade Europe. Only the fools who read their swill are dumb enough to buy that nonsense. So what is it all about? My suspicion is that they are simply playing to their clients, the Saudis and allies, eg,, in Tel Aviv, who donate to the campaigns.

The following article shows that the current strategy using ground based intercept missiles is a huge boondoggle, but congress is happy to spend your money on it as long as you are ignorant of this fact. Will Trump be the one to wake us up or will he spend even more of our dollars on the boondoggles?

https://www.extremetech.com/extreme/182175-the-united-states-missile-defenthese-system-will-never-work-which-is-why-were-spending-more-money-on-it

Expert opinions that I have read tell us that even the sophisticated multichannel Russian air defense systems used with the S-400, and soon the S-500 missiles, are probably not going to be able to stop a hypersonic missile. Both the Russians and the US had therefore best start being friendly. God knows, Russia has tried over and over again.

But what would the pols do without an inmaginary enemy? They’d have to start actually solving the problems they create daily in the inner cities, in health care, crime, gangs, foreign military engagements killing civilians for profit, etc.

One of the best weapons against ignorance regarding “the other” is to learn his language. What I have learned is that there is no “other,” none at all. But there is an enemy, and he is ignorance. I recognized that I had to fight this enemy first in myself and then in others. Once he is vanquished, the world will be a safe place — at least as safe as before the Neocons and the “Enlightened Ones” like Bonaparte, Hitler, Bush, Clinton, Obama, McCain, Graham, Schumer and all that gang arrived on the scene to “help.”

I’ve been in the language learning and teaching biz for over 45 years now and am still going strong. The most important information I can impart about languages now is HOW to learn a language. Linked below is Part 1, for you or your loved ones who may wish to learn a foreign language. Part 2 will explain a breakthrough method for learners on the advanced level that will boost their learning speed enormously. The advanced level is for me the most important. It is the level at which you start to read and understand foreign online newspapers, for example. If you are studying a language of one of the nations that the Western elites want you to hate and mistrust, eg, Syria, Russia or Iran, this can potentially take you light-years beyond the obnoxious lies and distortions of Western press and pols. You will even see that many of the activists who purport to be open to Russia are Establishment shills IF, that is, you are willing to doggedly pursue the objective facts.

http://laiglesforum.com/how-to-learn-a-foreign-language/4127.htm

The following is my translation of the next part of this Russian language article (Part 4 here). It pertains to subs and missiles.

The Lada project is the latest attempt of the Russian fleet to create a compact diesel submarine that will be very difficult to detect.

© RIA Novosti, Alexey Danichev | Go to the photobank

Diesel submarine “St. Petersburg”

The submarine is quieter than its Soviet predecessor, the Kilo sub; it is also quieter than the engines of any of the modern Russian submarines.

Development of the “Lada” class began in the late 1990s. The first submarine of this project, the “St. Petersburg,” was launched in 2005. Currently, this submarine is the only submarine of the Lada class in production, but in the next few years  Russia plans to build two more of them.

Unlike the Borey class, the Lada is not designed to transport ballistic missiles. It is a non-nuclear combat submarine equipped with modern self-guided torpedoes for the destruction of other subs and ships. In addition, submarines of the Lada class are equipped with Vodopad torpedoes, created in Soviet times and intended to destroy other subs.

Details about this boat are for the most part kept under wraps. According to some information, the sub, with a length a 72 meters, can dive to a depth of 300 meters, and carries a crew of 37 sailors and officers. The sub’s maximum speed while submerged is 21 knots.

The Lada project is also known as the St. Petersburg class, and its subs are adapted for operations in the Baltic Sea and other relatively shallow waters.

9K720 “Iskander” missiles can hit Sweden

9K720 Iskander missiles are short-range ballistic missiles that can carry a nuclear warhead. The Iskander missile system replaced the old Soviet Scud system.

Missile system Iskander-M

In addition to nuclear weapons, the Iskander can be equipped with many different types of warheads. Examples include high-precision bombs capable of penetrating the walls of a concrete bunker, cluster bombs and even electromagnetic missiles for destroying enemy radar systems.

At launch, the Iskander missile weighs about 3.8 tons and travels at speeds as high as 2,100 meters per second, making it very difficult for enemy air defenses to intercept it.

The missile systems are located near Kaliningrad, the former Koenigsberg in East Prussia, which at the end of the Second World War became part of Russia.

Last week, Iskander missile systems were transported from Luga, near St. Petersburg, to Baltiysk. The range of the missiles is from 400 to 500 kilometers, which means that they can strike southeastern Sweden.

In Baltiysk, which is located about 40 km west of Kaliningrad, the bulk of the Russian Baltic fleet is anchored.

Next comes the Soviet-era missile system, which is still used in the Baltic states.

Tactical missile system OTR-21 “Tochka”

The missile system OTP-21 “Tochka” is a tactical ballistic missile that was introduced to the world back in 1976. When the NATO Military Alliance learned of its existence, it was given the classification name SS-21 Scarab.

© RIA Novosti, Igor Zarembo | Go to the photobank

Preparation of the Tochka missile system for launching a tactical missile at the Pavenkovo ??military training ground in the Kaliningrad region

In the ’70s, the “Tochka” was considered a revolutionary breakthrough, because it used inertial navigation, which favorably differed from the predecessor of “Luna-M”.

The most modern version, which NATO calls Scarab C, weighs 1.8 tons, and has a range of 185 kilometers.

The missile can be equipped with either a conventional warhead or a tactical nuclear head.

SS-21 is part of the 53rd rocket brigade stationed in Chernyakhovsk, Kaliningrad region, says defense analyst Jörgen Elfving, a former lieutenant colonel working at the National Defense Institute.

“Every year, according to the Russia’s plan, two rocket brigades are re-equipped and receive Iskander-Ms. When the brigade in Chernyakhovsk will be re-equipped is not known, but in the course of the debates in Russia it is often said that placing Iskander in Kaliningrad can be an adequate response to training activities of NATO and deployment of their forces in Eastern Europe, “says Jorgen Alfving.

The S-400 can pursue 80 enemy aircraft at the same time

The S-400 is the new star of Russian air defense. The mobile anti-aircraft system is considered the most modern version of defense against enemy missiles and aircraft, along with the touted Israeli system “Iron Dome”.

The S-400 has a very advanced tracking system that can target 80 missiles and planes simultaneously. The main task of the S-400 is to neutralize the enemy’s missiles and aircraft before they reach Russian territory.

The anti-aircraft missile system uses three types of missiles: the 40N6 with a range of 400 km, the 48N6 with a range of 250 km and the 9M96, a version with a range of 120 km.

The launched missile travels toward the target at a speed of just over 1,000 meters per second.

In 2009, the Russian Armed Forces reported the deployment of S-400 complexes near the North Korean border. This was done in order to destroy the nuclear missiles of North Korea in the event they should mistakenly approach the Russian territory. [Even as wild-eyed US conspiracy theorists claim that Russia and N. Korea are military partners. It is safe to say this is pure fantasy, but what’s new?—Don]

Production of the S-400 began in 2007, and the system was developed in the late 1990s. Since then, at least 152 complexes have been deployed.

These complexes are included in the at Gvardeysk 183rd anti-aircraft missile regiment  in Kaliningrad. S-400s were deployed in the Kaliningrad region in 2012.

Their predecessor, the S-300VM, was exported, for example, to the oil-rich country of Venezuela in South America.

Next on the list is a bomber that Russia has stationed near Sweden.

I have just made a huge discovery. A comprehensive Wikipedia article shows that the US does not use MIRVs to shoot down incoming ICBMs (BTW, Wikipedia is mainly for an overview. It is like the skeleton on which the flesh is suspended. Of course, you will need to go farther, but it is a good place to start).

Obama officially ended the use of MIRVs on US air defense missiles: http://allthingsnuclear.org/emacdonald/the-end-of-mirvs-for-u-s-icbms

He did not require Russia to do likewise. That’s why Western and Israeli aircraft entering Syrian air space are taking a huge risk.

The following article shows that the current strategy using ground based intercept missiles is a huge boondoggle, but congress is happy to spend your money on it as long as you are ignorant of this fact. Will Trump be the one to wake us up or will he spend even more of our dollars on the boondoggles?

https://www.extremetech.com/extreme/182175-the-united-states-missile-defense-system-will-never-work-which-is-why-were-spending-more-money-on-it

Expert opinions that I have read tell us that even the sophisticated Russian MIRV systems used with the S-400, and soon the S-500 missiles, are probably not going to be able to stop a hypersonic missile. Both the Russians and the US had therefore best start being friendly. God knows, Russia has tried over and over again.

Fellow Americans, you are financing Nazi-sympathizing killers in Ukraine!

Fellow Americans, you are financing Nazi sympathizing killers in Ukraine!

By Don Hank

Yesterday I shared with my internet group my research (since posted) on the Donbass-Lugansk (Novorossia) seizure of Ukrainian oligarchs’ production facilities in E. Ukraine in response to a Kiev-led blockade that is both illegal and a blatant violation of the Minsk accords. Naturally, the bottom feeding elites in Europe and the US keep blaming Russia even though Kiev has been shelling civilians in E. Ukraine for years! BUT Russia is not a signatory to the Minsk accords and has no responsibility here. Secondly, the OSCE, responsible for monitoring the situation in that region, has never had the guts to act on its own information and hold the West to account. They know that Kiev (Poroshenko’s government, now collapsing) is responsible for the murder of civilians because they live in that area, and if you read even their reports, it is obvious who is violating the accords daily and has been since the beginning. Consequently, due to their irresponsible inaction—ie, failure to report to the press and governments, the US Congress can send lethal aid to these criminals and you don’t know enough to protest. Many of you just assume the Russians are “aggressive” when in fact their people have been dying at the hands of an evil regime and are not allowed to fight back with all their resources lest they be accused of aggression (defending themselves) in the Western kangaroo court of public opinion.

This research was hard going for me because I badly needed updating on this situation and it took me most of the afternoon to get a reasonable grasp of it.

Judging by how hard it was for me to understand, I can sympathize with those who are still struggling with the issue. But it is hard to sympathize with those who have unquestioningly drunk the Kool-Aid dispensed by the US Congress and our deplorable biased media and have sat by and allowed their tax dollars to go toward murdering innocents without protesting vigorously to their Congress person.

I have posted sitreps from our friend Irina Burya for many months now (novorossia.vision/en) and many of you are aware of the gruesome shelling of civilians, the invasion and takeover of swaths of territory declared as neutral by Minsk, etc. You know that the US is guilty as sin of sending lethal aid to a bunch of Nazi sympathizers.

I am still shocked that so many Americans are ignoring this issue that the US Congress can find it politically possible to finance these Nazi sympathizers with your money. This would never happen if everyone did their homework. As a rule of thumb, the US has been killing good and innocent civilians for the last 60 yrs or so (on behalf of the Russophobic Saudi dictatorship) and Americans have snoozed thru it. NOW is the time to WAKE UP and tell your Congress critter to stop voting for this or you will stop voting for him, her or it! And for God’s sake, please forward this message.

But if there are any who haven’t quite grasped this yet, this article should help:

Another rah rah moment in American history

Trump victory: another rah rah moment

by Don Hank

I wonder if you will recall that the GW Bush wars were started by rah rah talk, as when Dubbya stood at ground zero and, with his arms draped around two NY firemen, proclaimed “the people who knocked down these buildings are going to hear from us.”

So ask yourself: Did “the people who knocked down these buildings” really hear from us? Now every American who experienced that moment lived through the wars that followed. But remember that the “people who knocked down these buildings” were mostly Saudis because it was they who founded and funded – together with the US Deep State – Al-Qaeda. But instead of declaring war on the Saudis, our real enemy, we attacked the enemies of our enemy, the Taliban (which had around that time plotted to oust the Saudi royals) and Saddam, who ran a secular type government with little or no emphasis on Shariah and even had a Christian in his cabinet. The Saudis hate secular leaders and the US helps them eliminate them. (Here is a clue as to why we are so obliging to them: http://laiglesforum.com/how-the-petrodollar-perpetuates-islamic-terror-2/3315.htm).

Thus, absurdly, Dubbya was aiding and abetting the “people who knocked down these buildings” and killed up to 3000 Americans.  And he and his Neocon pals had to know that the Christians and other large groups would leave Iraq in droves if we “won,” and that chaos would ensue, forcing the US to occupy.

And how about that Afghanistan? What a great victory! Rah rah. Not. US and allied troops are still there and the carnage is heart-wrenching – for all but the arms industry and its financiers.

Thus we can state with confidence that, facing the TV cameras at ground zero that day, George W. Bush was thumbing his nose at a bleeding America. (This fits in perfectly with Bush’s cover-up of the Saudi role in 9-11 as reported subsequently by the Washington Post ).

Now with that deception in mind, you will note the unbridled euphoria over the Trump election. Rah rah. Millions of Americans were relieved that we would now have peace.

And in fact, we might.

But we might not either.

Yes, Donald Trump had promised he would cooperate with Russia. The prospect of peace that this signaled is one important reason many Democrats crossed over to vote for him, for example.

But what many of us have forgotten is the eerily similar rah rah moments of the Bush years and what rah rah moments usually mean in our great country. The greatness often lies solely in the rah rah, not in the situation on the ground, in the aftermath, our bleeding hearts and pocket books.

Some exceptionally alert observers are already pointing out that Trump has picked two rank Neocons for his cabinet, who have both warned about “Russian aggression” in Ukraine, despite the fact that it was the US and Europe who started and supported the bloody coup in Kiev for the obvious purpose of goading Russia into a defensive action that could be spun by our media into “aggression.”

Trump’s presumptive defense secretary has warned that the Russian “aggression” in Ukraine is “worse than we think.” This is a lie, as you know if you follow the web site that provides regular sitreps on the conflict in E. Ukraine. Bookmark this site and go there at least once a week. If enough Americans did, our “leaders” would not dare arm the Kiev fascists. Even, if you followed the OSCE’s regular Ukraine reports, you would also know the aggressor is Kiev’s troops (many of which are fascists, eg, the Azov Battalion) that the US government supports.

But Mattis is not the only one beating the war drums against the country Trump promised to “cooperate with.” Mike Pompeo, Trump’s pick for CIA director, recently returned from a trip to Kiev, and after fruitful discussions with the Neo-Nazis there, says that “Putin’s aim is to take over Ukraine” (Mike would have fit in nicely in a Clinton cabinet) , implying that Russia wants to attack Ukraine militarily. If that were true, Putin would have done the job a long time ago before NATO had deployed troops all over Eastern Europe, including 30,000 at the Russian borders (reminding Russians of Hitler’s Operation Barbarossa that destroyed much of Russia and killed millions of Russians). No one is saying that a Ukraine thoroughly disgruntled with US and EU lies, like the false promise to let the country join the EU, might not voluntarily ally itself with Russia. It would be hard to paint that as Russian aggression, but recent anti-Russian (hence racist) drivel from the Western msm shows that no lie is too big for the warmongering elites to manage.

The latest E. Ukraine (Novorossia is the real name) sitrep shows that the Neo-Fascist sympathizers the US government supports in Kiev are now recruiting Lumpenproletariat, common thugs, with promises of free land, stolen from Russian speakers.

Now we are at another crossroads, another rah rah moment in American history. The euphoria over the Trump victory is great. Many are willing to go along with anything this leader wants. Like Bush, the Evangelicals have anointed him as God’s servant. The chessboard is arrayed exactly as before.

The question is: will you forget the lessons that Dubbya taught us and say to yourself: this time is different and the rah rah heralds a better world? Or will you recognize the rah rah moment for what it is: a time for you to say “not this time!”?

Postscript:

Writing for a news and opinion site is an endless job, as it should and must be. Since this was written, Trump is reportedly eyeing shifty arch-Neocon Mitt Romney for the position of Secretary of State.

So what’s wrong with that you ask? Here is a video featuring Mitt saying “Russia is our worst geopolitical foe” who always “lines up with the world’s worst actors”, among whom he counts Assad, the most pro-Christian leader in the Middle East, who is fighting for  his country’s life against Al-Qaeda and ISIS, groups that are armed and trained by our “ally” Saudi Arabia.

Trump has said he will cooperate with the same Putin that Romney has spent much of his career smearing.

About that hammer and sickle on the Russian Army flag

About that hammer and sickle on the Russian Army flag

by Don Hank

Someone recently asked me why the Russian military has reverted to the hammer and sickle on their flag. I explained that this symbol antedated the Russian Revolution and did not necessarily denote communism. In fact the revolution itself was supported by a people who never dreamed it would turn communist. The hammer and sickle was rather used as a symbol of independence from the West and a kind of warning against Western meddling.

I think the fact that the symbol is back in place is a sign of just how angry and frustrated Russians are at the Western introduction of terror in Russia.

Just imagine how you would feel if another country introduced terrorist killers into the US and they occupied a school, as they did in Breslan, and started killing child hostages. Can you imagine a greater affront? Actually, the Saudis did something like this, killing 2-3000 Americans and our government covered up for them.

Meanwhile, the Russian intelligence services, including their ex chief Putin, knew the US was behind these atrocities and kept silent for 2 decades, as reported here.

You should be struck not that the Russian army has reinstated the old symbol of independence that affronts Americans, but that they sat silent for 2 decades nursing their pain from the death of those children and other atrocities committed by the US-backed and trained terrorists.

I personally have not a single doubt that everything a person or a country does to harm another will eventually come back to harm the offender. I have seen it happen too often to doubt it. It happens right around the time people wake up and recognize the treachery behind the event.

The EU bosses used trickery to induce the Brits to join them, but now, decades later, Britain has left the EU and the bosses are rightfully worried sick that another major player will leave. If Italy were to leave, for example, the EU could be crippled fatally. That’s the kind of justice I am talking about. It is divine and cosmic and it is unstoppable.

The US government lied about trade agreements for years, and now, Europe and Japan have stopped believing. Thus TTIP is all but dead. This is how it works.

In the early 70s the US made a dirty deal with the bloody Satanic Wahhabis in Saudi Arabia, whereby the US would fight all Saudi wars for them in exchange for the Saudis propping up the US dollar. The wars intentionally took the lives of innocents, including many Christians, and destabilized country after country in ways that ushered in groups like Al-Qaeda and ISIS. But despite the plot to save the dollar, last year already, almost all US allies joined the Chinese investment bank AIIB, despite desperate pleas from Obama not to join.

In compliance with unknown terms of the petrodollar agreement, Washington founded and funded, together with the Saudi Rat Pack, at least 3 major terror groups, all of which came back to bite us. Worst of all, our evil government is no longer trusted anywhere. And despite the desperate measure to prop up the dollar with murder, the plan is backfiring. The same Saudis who plotted with Washington are now grinding down the dollar with rock bottom oil prices. There is no honor among thieves they say.

Washington’s power is being drained little by little.

What went around came around.

And all the silly Neocons can talk about is a symbol on a flag. And yet, US embassies all around the world are flying the rainbow flag, no less an affront to good hard working traditional people everywhere and no Neocon utters a peep.

Hypocrites all of them!

Hoax busted: There is no US-Saudi relationship

Hoax busted: the American people have NO relations with the Saudis

by Don Hank

A Neocon article titled Analysis: Russian jets in Iran change Mideast game – Middle East criticizes the new “game changing” arrangement between Iran and Russia in which the latter uses Iran’s airport facilities as a home base for its anti-ISIS bombing missions. While the author calls his piece an analysis, it is in fact blatant propaganda, distorting the nature of the “game change” he describes.

QUOTE:

“…this type of change is definitely not in the interests of the US, America’s traditional Sunni-Arab allies in the region, nor Israel.”

In fact, the US-Saudi relationship touted by the author is not a relationship between the US people and the Saudis, although the sneaky author would like us to believe it is. We the People obviously have no interest whatsoever in a relationship that spawned the Taliban, al-Qaeda and ISIS, destroyed previously stable partner countries like Iraq, Libya and Syria and seriously threatened Egypt until el-Sisi stepped in, all of which has served only to erode US prestige and credibility in the world. The American people have, in fact, an existential interest in ending this ill-conceived US Establishment-Saudi relationship as soon as ever possible, while the financial elites, notably the Federal Reserve Board, know that the Saudis are the key to propping up a dollar that has practically no other support in our debt-based economy and government. It is known that, under the secretive petrodollar agreement between the US elites and the Saudis, the US government has promised to protect the Saudi royals and their oil fields in exchange for their charging only US dollars for their oil and buying US sovereign bonds as financial reserves, all of which have been, since the early 70s, keeping the value of the US dollar artificially high. But what is not known is how much further that agreement goes in reality, thanks to terms brokered in secret, either since the original deal or at the time Richard Nixon and King Faisal signed it. What is known, however, is that all US wars outside the New World, without exception (ie, even the Kosovo war), have clearly benefited violent and intolerant Saudi Wahhabism, but in no way benefited the US people, and this is all a sinister indication that the agreement goes much deeper than is known. Indeed, looking back over the last 50 odd years of warfare, initiated by the US on the flimsiest of grounds, Washington and Wall Street appear to have sold out US interests and even the interests of civilization itself in exchange for a strong dollar worth far beyond any economy-based intrinsic value, enabling them to “print” unbacked dollars in QEs 1 through 3 and possibly beyond without having to pay for the value thereby stolen from other economies throughout the world.

By contrast with secretive US-Sunni (Wahhabi) cooperation, the Russia-Shiite relationship brought about the first sincere attempt to stop ISIS, thereby thwarting the once unchallenged Saudi-US relationship.

The US then reluctantly followed Russia’s example by attacking ISIS in Iraq, politically unable to do otherwise but knowing that in so doing it was flirting with the possible rupture of the dollar-supporting agreement described above, and hence with financial disaster for the elites.

Further, the rearrangement of the Middle East chessboard has not only led to Russia’s establishment of an airbase in Shiite Iran but, prior to this, had led to a flourishing relationship between Netanyahu and Putin, which has benefited both countries. There can be no question that Israel-US relations are now much cooler and unproductive than Russia-Israel relations. (But remember that the US and Russia have swapped roles both domestically and in terms of foreign policy).

Thus the crucial difference between US foreign policy and Russian foreign policy is that the US has so far cultivated good relations only with one side – the Sunnis and their radical Wahhabi terrorists (posing at times as “moderates”) and also with the warlike Likud Party in Israel (instead of reconciling both the hawks and the Israeli factions that want peace) – a policy that necessarily leads to the untenable situation of perpetual conflict, while Russia has taken the broader view, trying to cultivate relations with both Sunnis and Shia, and just as importantly, with Israel, in an attempt to bring permanent peace between Sunni and Shia in the Middle East and end the Palestine-Israel conflict. (BTW, there is another unseen aspect to all of this in that many Western Christians believe – in large part under encouragement from sly Neocons – that any US attempt to bring about peace in the Middle East is unbiblical and that somehow, God wants them to support, or at least passively consent to, senseless wars in order to fulfill prophecies that carry unspecified time frames and schedules. Yet this lack of specific time settings makes these prophecies hard to pin down and makes a rigid interpretation inappropriate at best. Further, there is no biblical commandment or even suggestion that Christians are supposed to consent to or participate in wars at any time in history — the way so many of them did during the Iraq invasion, believing at first — thanks to sly propaganda efforts willingly perpetrated by fooish clergy — that this disastrous war that saw the banishment of most Iraqi Christians, was godly. Thus Christianity has been used as a tool of Satanists thanks to the lack of common sense and spiritual discernment of these pawns with little grasp of the scriptures. I showed previously how these Christians are disobeying an important commandment of Jesus).

So yes, this new Russia-Iran arrangement is not in the interests of the US if we define the US as the Neocon perpetual war Establishment (including Obama and Hillary), and it is not in the interest of the Saudi Wahhabists whose ultimate goal is the total annihilation of Shia and Christians as well as civilization as we know it. But the Saudis, with their intolerance toward people with different opinions and religions, certainly do not deserve to be given by the US, through stealth or otherwise, the green light to continue founding and funding terror groups throughout the world, whether or not their rampaging props up the greenback, because such is obviously immoral unless you are a Neocon or central banker. Thus, Washington’s oft-times schizophrenic foreign policy is precisely due to the fact that, while the elites have constantly supported the barbaric Saudi regime and its thinly veiled terror campaign (for the reasons enunciated above), the ordinary people whom they despise sense that this policy is insane and threatens civilization.

The Establishment has been playing the mischievous wizard behind the curtain. But thanks in large part to Donald Trump, and to alternative media, this curtain is now in tatters and ordinary people can easily discern the wizard and his evil machinations. Whether or not Trump wins the presidency, it is only a matter of time before the wizard’s workshop will be permanently closed down.

Making sense of the Turkish coup attempt

Making sense of the Turkish coup attempt

Incirlik, pron. In-jeer-lik in Turkish but generally mispronounced as In-ser-lik by US TV anchors.

It has been reported by various sources that US forces in Incirlik have been surrounded by Turkish troops, although some reports now say that the standoff has been resolved.

The reason for this is that apparently, the recent failed coup against Erdogan has been attributed to the US, although this is a source of speculation. Some think Erdogan (pron. Er-do-an) himself staged the coup to consolidate his power and make himself a full-fledged dictator.

But all of this is secondary to the nitty-gritty fact that the US, via the CIA, USAID, the State Department, Soros foundations linked to the government, etc, has a long and sordid history of interference in other countries in an attempt to manipulate or overthrow governments and replace them with leaders willing to kowtow to Washington and spread senseless revolutions (which essentially started with the “Enlightenment,” as discussed here). The latest example of such US meddling may be the recent Brazil “legal” coup but no one can be sure. The latest documented example is the Ukraine debacle, with Asst. Secretary of State Victoria Nuland proudly announcing that the US had spent $5 billion of your money to overthrow a stable duly elected government and replace it with fascist-friendly “leaders” loyal to the US and EU. The net effect was chaos, with Ukraine now enjoying a standard of living that has been compared to that of Haiti.

Libya was another example. Further, the war in Syria can be traced back to the Arab Spring, a project sponsored by Washington and the EU that aimed to replace the stable democratic government of Bashar al-Assad with “moderate” Islamists and wound up spawning ISIS. Though the uprising has been portrayed as homegrown, numerous foreign fighters are involved. The US-sponsored and armed Islamist “rebels” recently beheaded a young boy. That is the new “democracy” sponsored by the US. Not the best publicity for US foreign policy, although good publicity is hard to come by.

This history of disastrous US-led interference goes back at least as far as the CIA-induced coup in Iran in 1954 that unseated a very popular secularist president, had him killed and replaced with Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, a very unpopular man famous for torture and murder of his opposition. In 2013 the CIA admitted its involvement. Pahlavi was eventually overthrown by rebels loyal to the Khomeini, an Islamic fundamentalist and Iran has been a thorn in Washington’s side ever since. Without our interference, Iran could be under secular rule instead of being dominated by Islamic fanatics. Only the Wahhabist Saudi Rat Pack is happy about this situation, which makes Iran an outcast.

Other admissions by the CIA include its admission, in 2000, of involvement in the Chilean coup to overthrow President Salvador Allende in 1973. The barbaric Augusto Pinochet, who replaced him, was subsequently tried for human rights abuses.

Kosovo is another example of US meddling and has produced a Muslim state where historic churches have been razed or damaged and no Christian cemetery has been left unscathed. The story is completely covered up, perhaps because the truth would be too much of an embarrassment to the Clintons, who made the decision to invade this once-Christian country and carve out a caliphate. By a twist of fate, I seem to be the only Western blogger who has uncovered these uncomfortable facts, as reported here.

All of this horrible embarrassment owes to the geniuses in the US State Department, who think they can control the world but keep winding up with unintended consequences that badly damage US relations with other countries. They are godless manipulators who keep proving the existence of God, the only thing standing between them and success in their Satanic plans.

What is happening now in Incirlik, Turkey, is another unintended consequence of US policies, in this case, the policy of “isolating” Russia. In truth, we are isolating the US, slowly but surely, as one ally after the other turns away from Washington in horror and disgust (as when almost every US ally in the world joined the

Chinese investment bank AIIB against vociferous warnings from Washington—it was a soft coup that went virtually unnoticed in the msm).

Finally, since Russia seems to have at least some involvement in the counter-coup, it is highly relevant that the US, mostly via the CIA, was deeply involved in coups and subversion against Russia, because this meddling provides a motive for the Russians to help counter this Turkish coup. Thus, even if it turns out the US was not involved, the blatant, counterproductive interference in governments throughout the world for at least 60 years, much of it aimed at countering Russian influence, has made the world justifiably suspicious of US involvement in all coups and terror events everywhere.

The CIA has not yet admitted to its involvement in the troubles in Chechnya that led to war in that Russian region, but this story is well documented and has been reported in minute detail by Zero Hedge. There are few pertinent reports in the Establishment msm, but a few have appeared, for example, here, here and here, which support the Zero Hedge report (I say that because the rabid Neocons who run the lying US media keep pretending ZH is unreliable).

Again, there is no telling whether the US was involved in the coup against Erdogan, and that is not the point I want to make.

I think it is clear that the Russians warned Erdogan of the coup attempt. You will recall that a Turkish fighter plane had shot down a Russian jet over Syria and this had led to a catastrophic rift in Turkish-Russian relations. But there was too much at stake for both parties to allow this contention to continue. Russia had agreed to lay a gas pipeline across Turkey that would supply Europe. Turkey would have had a steady income from the profits of gas sales. That deal is back on the table now thanks to Putin’s willingness to forgive.

Almost miraculously, the Russo-Turkish relationship may have been saved by some stories, whether true or false, including the report that the pilot who shot down the Russian plane over Syria was not following Erdogan’s orders in so doing but had perhaps followed orders from the US. That pilot has meanwhile been arrested, suspected of complicity with the coup. The story that the pilot was working against Erdogan is possible if far-fetched. But truth is not what matters in this case to the parties involved, which are eager to mend fences.

Like so much of what has happened in world affairs, this renewed Russian-Turkish rapport can be classified as payback for US meddling. And it could change the geopolitical landscape in ways that Washington will regret. US ally and NATO member Germany is already feeling the bite, as reported here.

The lesson, again, is that attempts to manipulate geopolitical events will always fail.

But don’t expect the Neocon maniacs in Washington to learn it.
