I find it interesting that here we have Christians (in name at least) who are trying to uphold a law which is totally unbiblical. Why? Have they never considered the fact that age of consent laws bypass the Bible and give power to the state which it should not have? The Bible allows marriage between a man and a woman without regard to age, and pronounces it honorable, while at the same time forbidding all sexual relations outside of marriage. (Hebrews 13:4) Yet through these laws which certain Christians find so appealing, the state totally prohibits marriage for all those below an arbitrary age, while allowing those who have reached that age to freely take part in any sort of debauchery they wish with the blessing of the state, whether they are married or not, indeed, even if they are not even a man and a woman. If anything Christians should be campaigning for the repeal of these ungodly laws and the return of marriage to the domain of the God who ordained the institution.
