This is one of the most spiritually abusive situations I've encountered. Such brazen power play!

We had a similar situation happen to us in Ohio at a C&MA church where my husband was the associate pastor. Deeply disturbing & it changed us forever. The decisions by the denomination & the district were very monetarily driven. very sad. I am glad that the Chinese & Vietnamese churches are using their voice and hope that they win in court or get proper resolution out of court.

Unfortunately this is just the tip of the iceberg. It saddens me deeply to see how this once Godly organization has descended into such unGodly behavior. The problem is system wide, and the culture of the organization is infected with a spiritually abusive, dishonest nature. Calling meetings with no notice, refusing to allow individuals to bring witnesses to meetings, abusive elder boards and pastors who lie and manipulate in order to achieve their own dubious purposes, all of this will sound very familiar to anyone who has had the misfortune of running afoul of a leadership that truly believes that they are above reproach, and not truly accountable to anyone.
Moving abusive pastors to other churches, always trying to "keep things quiet", constantly spinning, instead of simply confessing wrong-doing and taking steps to make it right, all of these things will eventually come to a head, and no organization can sustain the lies it takes to keep up the facade. It happens on a smaller scale at the individual church level, when a pastor leaves "for his health" only to take his load of abuse to a different setting. It's glossed over for awhile, but eventually it will be revealed. The C&MA's abusive handling of the Chinese Church is the tip of that iceberg that is finally visible. Unlike the decades of "cover-ups" of the physical, sexual, spiritual and emotional abuse of missionary children at Alliance schools, this law suit will not go away, and, even if the C&MA is found to have LEGAL standing, it has been revealed to have sinned against it's own body. It is time for people to speak up. Wrong is wrong, and sin is sin, regardless of whether the person comitting the sin is a pastor or an elder in a church.

As a former employee of the EPDCMA, I asked for DEXCOM to look into Mr. Spriggs's activities. Hopefully DEXCOM will finally come their senses. Too bad the 2002 district conference was a sham of an election.

Come out from among them and be separate! I think Paul Proctor hit the nail on the head when he suggested this kind of stuff being done in the name of Purpose and Seeker Sensitive will prove to be a sifting of the Saints.

This is so grievous. Mr Spriggs ought to be ashamed, as should everyone who cannot find the kohones to stand up to him.
