Christians: Fear the Lord, not Rick Warren!

 by Donald Hank

Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.    Mat. 25:45

Some will certainly ask why my campaign against Rick Warren. They say it seems so personal at times.

It is. Let me try to explain where I am coming from.

300 years ago, my Anabaptist ancestors, gentle, godly men and women, were persecuted for their faith and their plain talk.  Here is how it happened.

My people had been living in the mountains of Switzerland and had been holding house church services there, perhaps for centuries - no one knows - much like the Chinese Christians today, reading contraband German translations of the Bible (which was supposed to be in Latin only) and teaching against child baptism, when Martin Luther managed to throw off the yoke of the Catholic church for the first time. Now they knew that up until then, had the Catholic authorities learned of these “heretical” activities, they would have been in mortal danger. But seeing Luther as their liberator, they decided it was safe to come down and come out. They went into the public squares and preached their new doctrines. Amazingly, they could quote the Bible in German, something ordinary people couldn’t do, because the Catholics had taught that only higher ranking church people had the right to do that. And their words seared men’s hearts and consciences, because it thundered like the truth of prophets. Unadorned, unflattering truth that tore away centuries-old facades and hypocrisies in a flash, leaving sinful people naked before man and God.

But if Luther was a liberator for some, he was not their liberator, far from it.

For the followers of Luther had their own doctrines shaped as much by their leader as by the Bible. Luther was indulgent. He didn’t preach much about sin or hurt the feelings of his flock. After all, they were his bread and butter. Many were rich and influential. So he liked to make his flock feel good about themselves. Sound familiar?

Luther’s reformers decided to take action against my ancestors. Soon the more outspoken ones were rounded up and persecuted. The tortures were unspeakable. Some were loaded with weights and thrown into rivers to drown; some had their cheeks burned open with red hot irons, leaving hideous gashes in their faces. Some were burned at the stake. Even young girls were not spared the torture and execution. Yet they marched to the place of execution singing hymns of praise to our Lord!

Faced with extinction, the Anabaptist church elders soon decided their only hope was to emigrate. But where to go? Who would take them? Many of those living in the East went to Russia, which then was a godly country. But for most, there was only one haven: America. A certain William Penn, a godly man himself, had acquired the rights to a vast territory in the Eastern part of the new land and invited the Amish and Mennonites, as they came to be called, to settle there.

Praise be to God. They were free at last! And they brought with them a new concept of government: separation of church and state.

But good things like this never last forever, at least not without a fight. But the Anabaptists didn’t believe in fighting.

In the 20th century, their children were exposed to wicked ideas, from the same places that had expelled them. From Charles Darwin in Europe. Darwin’s idea that people could live without God, that they were no longer His children but accidents of nature, spread like a miasma over the land, suffocating good religion and righteous people who resisted evils like homosexuality and abortion were soon the target of ridicule and even threatened with imprisonment.

A new “church” rose up under the influence of the new ideas. The new church taught a new doctrine: civility. But what that meant was that the old believers were not to speak. The new believers were allowed to say what they pleased as long as they did not sully the new church’s elders. And they could embrace the evil condemned by God himself. For the new leaders were wicked and secretly hated God and his plain words about these evils.

A new leader emerged among the false prophets, a man named Rick Warren, who quickly became famous because he flattered the evil doers and said nothing about their sins. Not only that, he punished those who spoke out against the evil. Rick was well liked among the licentious because he provided cover for them by silencing dissenters, called them “uncivil” if they criticized same-sex marriage and abortion.

Meanwhile he devised a scheme known as the “Growth Covenant,” and urged churches to sign this, promising them growth and wealth if they did. Many foolishly believed that they would become prosperous even without God’s blessings. Yet some, the wiser and older believers who knew the Bible, resisted. Rick told the pastors to simply kick out these older people, whom he derisively called fundamentalists (a name that had been shrewdly used by non-believers to denote Islamic radicals, making it seem as if all traditionalist Christians were every bit as bad as terrorists). Through this sleight of hand, he was able to discredit real Christians.

Do you see what had happened? The nation that had taken in the downtrodden was now persecuting them. And Rick Warren was the new Martin Luther, ruling with an iron fist - and a smile.

An old believer named James Sundquist documented the abuses suffered by these poor unfortunate Christians, in a book entitled “Who’s Driving the Purpose-Driven Church,” and later in another one entitled “Rick Warren’s Global Peace Plan.” For his pains, Brother James was also persecuted, receiving vicious attacks from the followers of Rick, who called him vile names. The hypocrisy was evident. These people who talked so much about “civility” were anything but civil.

It was a sham.

And this is the America we now live in. Anyone who dares to criticize Rick Warren is threatened with lawsuits, attacked viciously or treated as a pariah in the evangelical community. Almost no churches will tolerate a dissenter. Even the most traditional ones have adopted a code of silence. I spoke with some of the victims on the phone, who said they were threatened with the loss of their livelihood if they dared speak out against Rick. Others hung up as soon as they realized I was investigating Rick. I have spoken with otherwise traditional pastors who immediately jump to Rick’s defense when confronted with the truth, saying “I still believe Rick is saved,” as if being saved were an excuse for doing evil! And they hurry to get away. One man I spoke with said was escorted out of a church by the police because he had criticized Warren to his pastor earlier that week. It is surreal, like something straight out of Kafka.

But recently there have been stirrings. After Rick’s minion Richard Abanes had Ken Silva’s web site taken offline, I prayed earnestly about this intolerable situation and, seeing that no one else had the courage or understanding to intervene, finally stepped out in faith and took up the cudgel. I started exposing Rick’s shenanigans. And then, God stepped in as He always does at such times. Well-known and influential commentators started opening chinks in Rick’s armor, criticizing his leftism, something good Americans cannot tolerate when its mask is pulled away.

Below I present citations from respected and well-known serious commentators. Now, Randy or Hunt or Richard Abanes, or whoever is running interference for Rick today, please note that now, I am only quoting for a change.

But even so, don’t even think about harassing my friends here, because I promise to make you even more infamous if you do.

From what I have said about my ancestors, you can understand that I do not abide bullies well - especially religious bullies!

America is the last stronghold for religious freedom. If we fail here, there is nowhere left to go. All good people must fight. Please, fellow Americans, don’t be afraid. God will protect you, and bless you, if you stand up for what you know is right.

Now is the time to shed forever your purpose-driven shackles and shout a resounding NO to the rich and powerful bullies who have usurped America’s pulpits!

Rick Warren: Evangelical Statesman
Alan Wisdom
August 18, 2008

“Rick Warren will not endorse either candidate. Nor has he abandoned his convictions about abortion and homosexuality. But he does Obama a great favor simply by presenting him on the stage of Saddleback Church alongside John McCain. Assiduously avoiding the issues where evangelicals differ most sharply with Obama also aids the Democrat’s cause. (One wonders whether it will be possible, at an event in California, to pretend that the court-imposed redefinition of marriage is a matter of little concern to evangelicals.)” [my emphasis here and hereafter]

Read more here.

That, of course, is essentially what I had said back in February in my column “The purpose-driven left Turn.” No other columnist had mentioned this back then.

Star Parker echoes this same concern. Have a look:

Star Parker:

Pastor Warren: Stop politicizing religion

“For whatever good intentions Pastor Warren may have, by posturing as a neutral broker between different points of view, many of which have profound moral and religious implications, he contributes to the moral ambiguity we’d expect a pastor to be combating.

We have institutions for civic and political forums. The press, universities, town halls, etc. If they’re not delivering well, let the marketplace work to improve what we’re getting. But this is not the job of pastors or churches. If it is, where do we go to learn about good and evil?”

And further:

“The pretense of neutrality is really a left-wing illusion. It’s a sleight of hand to buy into relativism, and somehow Pastor Warren seems to have fallen into the trap. [Star is very diplomatic, falling short of calling Warren a leftist-DH]

When a pastor hosts a political candidate that has a 100 percent rating by NARAL Pro-Choice America and a 0 percent rating by the National Right to Life Committee, he gives legitimacy to that candidate. When legitimacy is given to a line of reasoning that says that poverty and AIDS are symptoms of anything other than moral breakdown, the relativist views of the left are justified.”

Amen, Star!

Finally, for those who have not read the numerous blogs and the books by James Sundquist, here is a letter from one of the victims of the Purpose Driven Mafia, which I received from this courageous author.

Brother James says:

Kaycia Key is wife of Pastor Ron Key who was driven from a well known PDC church in Dallas, TX. I published her letter in my book on Rick Warren’s Global Peace Plan.   Here is her letter as cited in “Rick Warren’s Global Peace Plan vs. Scriptural Teachings on Peace.” page 114-116, ©2006  Bible Belt Publishing, Southwest Radio Church and Rock Salt Publishing:

December 14, 2005 and January 9, 2006

Hi James,

Our newly founded church, Cornerstone, is doing very well, has such a sweet spirit. We have over 250 members and we are meeting in facilities provided by Dallas Christian College.

We have to use the gymnasium for worship services because it’s the largest area to meet. We’re too big for their chapel. We also have refugees from a myriad of other churches.

Ron and I are having an Open House this weekend to try to thank everyone for all the love and support we’ve received . . . so that has kept me pretty busy.

I finally got to get a little further into your book and another one that someone else sent which echoes the same concerns you have. I am so grateful to you for identifying some of the causes of my fear and concern for the Lord’s church. The Deceiver certainly has come as an “angel of light” in these days.

I recently read an article in Christianity Today, five pages of Rick Warren’s Global Plan to end world poverty. It was sad and frightening to read all those pages and only one mention of Jesus . . . a mention about how Rick Warren was there to restore the hands and feet to the body. And as you point out, his theology is definitely skewed. Have seen numerous articles corroborating your book. . . . Many who left Valley View Christian Church did so in great part because the leadership had developed an irrational and irrecoverable rupture in our common faith, belief and vision of Christ’s church after we studied and implemented the Purpose Drive Life by Rick Warren.

The church had been experiencing problems between the elders and the congregation and people were quietly (and some not so quietly) beginning to leave. When the elders  brought in a new preaching minister [who supported Warren's view] people grew more unhappy and then after we did, the purpose-driven programs the rift developed into the rupture of faith and our vision for Christ’s church to the point a “re-visioning” even the foundational charter. To try to overcome this growing rift the elders, and Ron and I, agreed to submit ourselves to a biblically-based reconciliation process under the direction of a professional Christian reconciliation group to try to overcome this mindset which had come upon the church.

But three days later the elders reversed their decision and asked Ron to resign, with six months severance or be fired and receive two months severance. Ron, my husband and senior minister, said that under these circumstances, they would have to fire him, because he said he could not resign when he had lived up to his end of the agreement. Ron Key did not, as some may thought (or been erroneously told) start a new church, but was asked to become the minister of the new church, once it was founded.

Since then the church has grown to about 275-300, several of whom were refugees from other churches in the area who were also leaving because of many of the same issues with

leadership that had developed in their respective congregations after purpose-driven programs. We are also now being able to share in love with more people about the perils of Warren’s programs. Believers, who sensed something amiss, but were not aware of the dangers in his teachings and who knew nothing (like me) of the congregations that have developed splits after having implemented his “purpose-driven” ideas. As one of our

members and past elder at VVCC stated, “The question is not whether the congregation will obey their elders, but whether the elders will obey Christ.”

-Kaycia Key [reprinted by permission]

Folks, if you are still not quite convinced, I recommend you go out and get James Sundquist’s books, which document the purpose-driven reign of terror that I have tried to briefly depict here.

  1. Amen…can’t tell you how many close friends I have lost who were smitten by Warren. PDC stole my wife’s folks church (Christian and Missionary Alliance)…which split twice in the last 2 years, my brother’s church (Foursquare…i.e. Jack Hayford’s denomination [I published an expose on his false teachings], my mom and sisters church (Conservative Baptist) and my best friend’s church (the one in Eugene, OR in Spiritual Euthanasia article).

Psalm 55:12-14 pretty well describes how I feel about it all!

But there still remains thousands of Christians throughout the world who have not bowed their knee to Baal or Rick Warren’s Global Peace Plan.

  2. OBAMA SUPPORTS SAME-SEXERS
(and also the “rights” of kids to view public depravity!)

Google “Americans for Truth,” scroll down to “Zombietime,” and click on “Up Your Alley Fair”! After you recover, Yahoo “God to Same-Sexers: Hurry Up” on the “ucmpage” listing (even Jesus told Judas to hurry up - John 13:27). See all of this before the predicted California earthquake happens a la Rev. 16:19 (”the cities of the nations fell”) - and before hurricanes and other conscience-stirring disasters occur elsewhere! Dr. Know
(Obama, Pelosi, and Newsom did NOT approve of this message.)

  3. Trust me, i do not have any fear of Rick Warren.

Do you honestly think a follower of the End-Time Prophet of Almighty God would have any fear of such a Moabite as him?

We have been given a sure sign and a banner of confidence, that we are following what is Truth. Our deep reverence of our Lord and His Word gives us a solace of security that no man (or devil), can take away.

For we not only walk by faith but, without any doubt, are in full assurance that we are His justified, sanctified, and redeemed, righteous children…

…and Heirs to the Promise of the Gift of Eternal Life…and of a Revelated Mind that cannot be shaken.

    I JOHN 3:19
And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

    I JOHN 4:6
We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

    PSALMS 60:4
Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.

    PSALMS 86:11
Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.

    PROVERBS 16:6
By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

    PROVERBS 14:26
In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

May God bless you as you seek His Truth.

  4. Each day as I pray for the churches who have excepted the Rick Warren false religion, and see some really see and to speak out is refreshing. We know as believers we are to warn the brethern as if we don’t , their blood is on our hands..
My brother in California was also sucked in by Rick’s false religion and even told me when I warned him that he did not see the problem, and his wife Nancy said she had read it and thot the book of purpose driven church was a good book ! She also saw nothing wrong with all those churches who have signed up under the Cathoic Church and seemed to think unity and humanism amd meism was truth.I can only say I warned and asked her and told her how the POPE had told the Muslims they worshiped the same god..and that John Paul2 had said he had to go to purgatory for some sins and that he would then go to stand at the right hand of the Father in heaven and then said, pray to me. ! that was after he went to see the statue of mary and bowed and thanked her for healing and then told the church she was part of savation?? How could my brother and his wife except this. I think one thing is they are both missionaries at heart and have been to Kenya and helped out. Lots of these churches tell the people they can call G-d,,allah..shame !! I told my brother and his wife,,that G-d refers them to heathen and from such turn away. I always wondered just what Satan would use for his last big lie..and it of course is clear…feed the poor, come in the L-rd’s name and clothe the poor etc..I often wonder how after G-d told us men do not learn from history how they don’t bother to learn that..amd old Rick warren sees and talks to Bush and the Pope every week to set up the world church and gov. HE is a member of the CRF,,the elete club and of course there is much proof that Obama is too. Our G-d tells us all gov are ran by the god of this world so why fawn over any of them. We are told to hold accoutable and to choose G-dly men for gov. I can remember when years ago I watched and supported TBN..then there came a day when I could not longer stand it..and saw many of the righteous one being let go. I called and talked to Ruth , Pauls sister and asked her what in the world was going on to let the good ones go and told her all that was left is screamers and phony apostasy teachers. She agreed..but it gets worse. I did not watch for yrs..and then one day was channel searching and stopped there..It blew my mind :)..not funny but to think that all would not SEE what was going on. Learning the Jewish roots of Christianty, opened my eyes to much..and the old testiment they like to call old is the very interpetation of the New and has so much in all truth to lead us and tell us. One thing the church doesn’t see is in James…which is really Jacob.they should go read it and see what the first words say…it was written to the Jews to the 12 tribes of Israel…pretty sad that so many walk of Genesis 12:3 and also where we are told to go preach the gospel (power) to the JEWS FIRST..and then we would be blessed for obeying. No one will ever replace Israel,,a everlasting covenant is just that..so that after the rapture HIS EYEs will go back to HER…and when HE stands on the Mt of Olive and brings up the dead and gives them a heart of flesh and takes away their sins .all Israel will be saved..HE IS NOT a Covenant breaker..If HE was they best worry about the covenant of the cross..We like in Israel are to remove the wicked man from us till we can see his arm no more..I will keep exposeing them all even Rick Warren and Obama who is trained for such a time as this..Not a American , not a African,,but Arab, not born here..and is a Muslim,,and one of the most dangereous men in the world..The apostasy is here..world wide to set up all to be ruled by Rome…and the real church will be gone…how sad that people don’t see the scripture as the truth and realize scripture interpets scripture and that when they do not have the whole truth..all they have is a lie, and taking scripture out of context is to leave pretext,,The old t interpets the new,,the new t is concealed in the old, what was will be and there is NOTHING new under the sun..G-d repented and destroy men in the flood this time it will be with fire..HE is not coming to make peace,,but to make war….and destroy all of His enemies and the enemy of Israel..look at the way Israel is blamed for lies, while all nations go after HER to give up land that G-d gave them as a everlasting covenant and support the enemy ..which one day like locaust will come after them too..We need to keep on telling them ,,as Yeshua said ,,they hated me and they will hate you..and My Kingdom is NOT of this world..G-d Bless

  5. Donald,

I have been away from the PDC program for going on five years now, and have found the home Church environment very much to my liking. Although I have been a Christian for over thirty years my ignorance of Church history astounds me still. I only knew history from the view point of the professors I happen to sitting under. Since I have come out of the institution I have a new appreciation for the Anabaptist and their plight. Thank you for this article. I will be monitoring this site for more from you.

  6. Hello Steve,
I have always thought that ignorance is my worst enemy and that I must fight on 2 fronts:
    1-my own ignorance
    2-other people’s ignorance.
I do not have a solid grasp of church history per se but am very interested, and have found out about the Anabaptists by interpreting for tourists in the Amish country (had to brush up) and by translating part of a book on Anabaptist history written by a very apologetic Lutheran pastor around the turn of the century. I don’t recall the entire title, something about the Bern Anabaptists. I gleaned the history mostly from that and from taking tours at the Hans Herr House, the oldest house in Lancaster County, PA.
Thanks for visitin the site. I have also been to IndyWatchman and if I haven’t linked to it yet, hope to soon.

  7. Got this as an email from Orlean Koehle:
Thank you for sending this. I have read much material against Rick Warren. I am also concerned that he is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations so is really a globalist at heart and supportive of their views for a one-world government, economy, and one-world religion, but it will not be a Christian religion, even though Rick Warren professes to be one.

  8. I’m just a man that has travelled somewhat ( ex-military and Coast Guard )and have experienced some real life situations and living conditions. In several moments of clarity it has come apparent to me and reasonable others that - there is comfort for most in conforming to the rest of society, regardless of Truth.

This is very dangerous to society one need only look at history. It is imperative that people of good conscience stay the course and support each other and others of parallel views. There are many groups organizations and real religious leaders that are not comfortable with the easier softer way, with being marginalized, silenced by way of intimidation and threats and intellectual dishonesty … ad infinitum.

Unfortunately Rev Rick posed questions to the next President that completely ignored a fairly obvious
failures of current society. In lieu of an important serious question and answer forum we were left with viewing easy questions and easy answers that required no critical thinking - essentially a dumbing down of society interview.

As a person with an iq above 70; I am very concerned that society won’t be protected by the next President. Rev Rick was complicit in another example of the dumbing down of society.

That is not Godliness in action …it’s something else.

  9. 3. WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF EVIL? (So, the real question is what does Rick Warren think the definition of evil is that he posed to the Presidential Candidates?)

From James Sundquist’s Book Rick Warren’s Global Peace Plan vs. Scriptural Teachings on Peace, Southwest Radio Church (swrc.com)

If anyone on the earth should be able to define “evil”, it should be “America’s Pastor,” but this is not the case. Here are some excerpts of what Rick Warren said at the July 2005 Aspen Institute, an organization that promotes the New Age [more accurately, the New World Order], where he was a featured speaker on the panel entitled: The Problem of Evil.

“In fact, I don’t think evil and sin are the same… We don’t know the answers…we really don’t…none of us are going to come out at the end of the day and say ‘got that one figured out.’ If you do please write the book on it and I will buy it…..I don’t think it [evil] is the same thing as sin…I don’t consider myself an evil person because I sin…I think you have
to reserve the word ‘evil’ for ‘evil’….I haven’t yet found a good definition of it…maybe Peter has. I was the one who suggested this topic by the way because I wanted to hear what Alan and Peter had to say about it because these are two men I have respected for years read all their stuff and I really came to take notes….We can become an evil person by making bad choices….I think evil is metastization where it just takes over….”

Later on in this panel discussion, Rick Warren continued…

“You’re a good man (referring to Alan Wolfe)…when we begin to compartmentalize our lives we’re headed for evil [emphasis mine]…I don’t act one way with Alan and another way over here with Mrs. Resnick and another way over here with Alan Simpson…OK…I am the same no matter where I am. What you see is what you get. Rick Warren has integrity because he doesn’t act one way with one crowd and another way with another crowd. He is integrated…and when what I see in our society today is a misunderstanding of character that thinks I can compartmentalize this area of my life and
then go do this the next day and that’s how they would justify it. And I think that total compartmentalization is a myth and moves us towards more and more evil…..as I pointed out yesterday, Abraham Lincoln and Washington said things that President Bush could never get away with today. There was far more God talk. Go to the Second Inaugural Address of Lincoln. Read it in the Lincoln Memorial. And it is full of God is on our side talk.”

I can’t imagine any Christian wanting the pastor of their own church, let alone following him globally as the leader of hundreds of thousands of churches, to be someone who is still looking for a good definition of “evil.” Scripture tells us that “God’s people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” (Hosea 4:6a) We already have the ultimate authoritative book which defines “evil”and good: the Bible. Rick Warren proceeds to remark that he doesn’t know objectively what evil is, but that he would recognize it if he saw it. Are we to depend on his subjective assessment of what constitutes evil? We don’t need Rick Warren’s subjective assessment of what constitutes evil because we have the
objective criteria. The word “evil” occurs 613 times in the Bible (KJV) and Scripture goes into elaborate detail defining and describing not only what evil is but who is evil. Subjective definitions of evil produced gnosticism and mysticism, Christianity’s earliest heresies, as evidenced by the teachings of the Desert Fathers, now being imported into the church by Rick
Warren and the Emerging Church Movements.

    Page 8

Contradicting his earlier statement that he could not find a good definition of evil, Rick Warren then goes on to define it by telling us that sin doesn’t become evil until it metastasizes, that sin in and of itself is not yet evil. This may sound right, but is it? My father was a physician and often
talked to me about the word metastasize, particularly as it corresponded to whether cancer was malignant. So when I heard Rick Warren describe the process and meaning of “metastasize,” I knew he was wrong. Medically, metastasize is defined:

“To spread to another part of the body, usually through the blood vessels, lymph channels or spinal fluid.”

    11

This definition virtually echoes the Scriptural process of unholy leaven in a lump, i.e., it spreads until the entire loaf is leavened. When Jesus warns us of the leaven of the Pharisees and Herod, and when the apostle Paul cautions that a little leaven leavens the whole lump, they are not saying that leaven is not evil or wicked until it spreads (i.e., while it is still little), but it is already
evil at the beginning before it spreads throughout the entire lump.

“Your glorying [is] not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?” 1Corinthians 5:6

“A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.” Galatians 5:9

From Rick Warren’s analogy, we would be led to believe that sin is not evil until it spreads. But sin is evil, period! It does not need to spread (metastasize) to become evil. Even if this were true, who decides at which point of sins’ spread now qualifies as evil? Rick Warren? Scripture?
It is supremely ironic that Rick Warren would give us this definition of evil because later on in the panel discussion Rick Warren warns of the danger of absolute power. He describes why there are three branches of government, to balance power and keep each branch in check (i.e., to keep it from fully metastasizing to become completely evil). Yet he retains absolute sovereignty
in his own church and trains thousands of Purpose Driven Churches to vest a single pastor with the authority to cast the vision for the church through his surrogate Dan Southerland’s Church Transitions organization, which has already trained 100,000 church leaders. Warren should heed
his own advice given on Larry King Live: “You give a guy a little bit of power and they turn into Stalin.”
    12
And yet Rick Warren is quite forthright in announcing that he is going to be THE general of his billion-man Christian Army.
    13
Warren tells us Abraham Lincoln said that God is on our side, but that is not what Lincoln actually said. Here is Lincoln’s comment from a
conversation in the White House during the Civil War. Note that, in fact, Lincoln says quite the opposite of what Warren alleges
    :
“Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God’s side, for God is always right.”

Warren also referred to Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address where we can read just how muchGod was on our side.
    14
(I did as Rick Warren suggested at the Aspen Conference…I looked up
and read Lincoln’s Second Inaugural address.)
Nothing like what Warren states is in this address. Lincoln did quote Jesus Christ from Matthew18:7:

“The Almighty has His own purposes. ‘Woe unto the world because of offenses; for itmust needs be that offenses come, but woe to that man by whom the offense cometh.’”

A Christian leader or pastor should be able to discern evil and be a discerner of spirits. Otherwise, how does he detect doctrines of demons, false teachings, or when a wolf is in the sheepfold? But believers don’t necessarily need to have the Holy Spirit Gift discernment to spota false teaching or teacher. If we are good Bereans, we can ferret out a false teacher using the
objective criteria of Scripture. Rick Warren, by his own testimony, can’t do that, and so why would we want him as “America’s Pastor” as Time Magazine has dubbed him? I don’t think so! Further, it is clear Rick Warren does not recognize a false teacher or evil in his own midst (or at least does not mark him as such), Rev. Peter Gomes, his co-panelist, is openly gay
    15
, and is a universalist (confirmed by him at the Aspen Conference when Rev. Gomes was asked about his new book). He is a Professor and Chairman of Christian Morals at the Harvard University –what a mockery of God! But Warren proclaims that he is a great admirer of Gomes and has read
all his works. Rick Warren’s effusive praise of Peter Gomes is quite ironic, given that Warren now distanceshimself from Dr. Robert Schuller, who is also a universalist.
    16
It is difficult to believe that Warren would discover that Schuller is a false teacher in only the last few years, when his full-blown heresies were in full public view in 1990 as he took his “self-esteem” gospel to Russia (a
message mirrored in Warren’s March 2005 Ladies Home Journal article). Schuller’s departurefrom Orthodox Christianity can be documented as early as 1982 when he published his well-known book entitled: Self-Esteem the New Reformation, Word, 1982. (See the section in thisdocument on “New Reformation.”)

Rick Warren further states at the Aspen Conference that he does not compartmentalize, that he isthe same before all audiences, and that he is not duplicitous. This statement is the height ofabsurdity! According to Warren’s definition of evil, one who increasingly compartmentalizes his
life, would then render Warren evil by his own definition as we read the doctrinal positionstatements of his Saddleback Church then compare it to his March 2005 Ladies Home JournalColumn and you will clearly see how double-minded Rick Warren is.
    17
    Who’s Laughing?
Upon being informed of Neal Donald Walsch’s New Age PEACE Plan, during an interview, Rick Warren laughs, then laughs again louder.
    18
Warren, who has been dubbed “America’s Pastor” and who is continually voted one or two in polls as to who is the most influential evangelical leader in America, should GRIEVE at the many who will be led away from God by Neal Donald Walsch. Woe unto you who laugh now;blessed are those who mourn at the state of the world. Christian leaders and all Christians should
following the example of Jeremiah. He did not think what the leaders of Israel were doing to his people was very funny. There is not one single example of Jesus or any of his Apostles laughing in the face of false teachings or false Peace Plans. Instead, they gave the strongest warnings. Did the Apostle Paul laugh when false teachers were threatening the Church of Ephesus?

  10. Richard Hess Says:

Isaiah 45:5 ¶I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:
6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.
7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

God Himself sends evil against disobedience to Him. Watch these scriptures as God warns His people Israel against their disobedience.

Jeremiah 4:6  Set up the standard toward Zion: retire, stay not: for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.

Jeremiah 6:19  Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.

Jeremiah 11:11  ¶Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.

It is our own lust that eventually pulls us into sin.
James 1:13 ¶Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Many times we cry out to God for relief from the pains and destresses of sickness, disease, financial problems, divorces, drug and alchohol abuse and many other things. Our hospitals and institutions are jammed packed with the results of sin in our lives … not always, but many times.

It’s time we did some serious self examination and pray as did David when he prayed: Psalms 139:23  Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24  And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Oh God, turn your searchlight on my heart and expose sin in my life. Humble me (us) and make us aware of the sins of commission as well as sins of omission that we may repent and be restored to You and once again experience your blessings and the joy of your salvation.
    AMERICA REPENT!

    Richard
