I called the mayor of Altensteig and spoke to him in German. Very eloquent guy. I told him I was calling from the USA and asked him what he had against homeschooling. He told me that it is the government’s job to make sure that children are cared for and educated.
I told him that was praiseworthy, but what did that have to do with public schools? That everyone knows that homeschooling gives better educational results on average.
Then he said “We have the Schulpflicht here, the mandatory institutional education law”. I told him that was true, but that we have had terrible laws here in the USA, too, terrible slave laws like the Fugitive Slave Act, for example and these laws not just either. That he had the opportunity to show leadership and oppose unjust laws.
Then he said “You are in the USA, you do not need to concern yourself about what we do here”. I told him I am very concerned, that millions of us are.

Hi Donald,
I think there is another parallel society in Germany: The German School-System itself. It is so far away from reality and from the socio-cultural basics of a modern society.
The school authorities and the governement fears that this parallel society will show up if homeschoolers exist and are successfull in Germany.

It was my great privelige to drive to a sea-port in the country where I live late on Saturday night, and pick up Kathrin and the children to the aforementioned safe place, just round the corner from our house. This means, however, that I have been an accomplice in a mother kidnapping her own children, as she was no longer the legal custodian. Would I do it again? You bet. Will I have to do it again? Maybe.

The Mum and kids are getting on reasonably well, under the circumstances, and Dad (Klaus) will hopefully be joining them tonight or tomorrow morning. They need our prayers in getting set up here in ——-
